Can I get a passport if I owe back taxes? (the passport website does not answer this question!)?

I did see any information about this on the irs or passport websites. Someone provide a real answer to this question and not some feel good response or a misleading website.

Best way apply and see what happens,either they will give you a passport or deny with an explanation(probably if you are flight risk)

If you have a payment plan with the IRS then you should be able to get one. If not then you may not just try and see if they give you one.
