Can I start my own business on an E2 Visa using an agency?

Hello! I've just started my green card process with the agency who currently holds the rights to my E2 Visa. They contract my services out to other companies. I have found a niche in the market for my expertise and would like to consider setting up my own company and was wondering if anyone has found themselves in a similar situation? Will I have to wait until I have my green card or are there ways around my dilemma?
