i wanted to bring my family here my girlfriend and our child coz' we're not married yet and has the plan to get married here in the u.s. my problem was i didn't know if i am eligible to apply for a fiance visa due to the reason that i am not a u.s citizen yet and has a lot more years to cover before i become a citizen....and i'm curious if the processing is still the same if i filed right now that i am an immigrant or if i'm going to file right after my citizenship.... does it differs the processing time? in short, does the processing of filing a fiance visa is the same whether im an immigrant or a citizen of the state? pls. help...

If you are a permanent resident you can apply for your wife but not for a fiancee. Your application would be low priority until you become a citizen. At that point your petition would get top priority like any other citizen. You can save a couple of months wait by filing before you are a citizen. In your situation I would plan a trip home and a wedding. |
