Green Card is not a vaild documents to travel outside United States. You require a passport to travel from country to country. Keep the green card with you, just in case the US immigration might ask you upon return.

YES you can - you just need a VALID passport from whatever country you are still a citizen of, and your GC. You do not need a visa. Javed is wrong.

Yes, you can. A Green Card is ABSOLUTELY valid for travel to Canada and Mexico.

I was in Canada last week and I also have a green card. You absolutely need the green card in order to come back to US.You also need the passport of your country (some people ask for it some don't)
