Sorry for saying that, but I lived in Middle East for many years( In Iran), and believe me, what you hear on the news, is 99%, tailored to benefit the ones that control the media. I wish one day you can go there as a tourist, then you'll know the truth.
Don't make a judgment, Just because of the religious fanatic government, which is gradually, being replaced by the new generation of young people .

there are human rights, i am middle easter and i think that people don't understand us we are normal people i dress they way i want to i wear short skirts, and i don't wear a headscarf it is up to the people to decide what to do and i would prefer the middle east than europe, it is more FRIENDLY there and people don't make fun of you!

You know the answer. Our country is put at a different standard. You should be allowed to do what you want and believe what you want. The problem comes in when we allow these rights to infringe on the rights of others.

Unfortunately, I think this only works in the U.S. We as a nation are so afraid of being "politically incorrect" that we jeopardize our own tax dollars and personal convictions, to accommodate people who want to come here, reap our benefits, and still fly their own flags - all the while bashing the United States of America (and not paying taxes but receiving governmental financial support). Something HAS to be done ASAP.

You can move to Dubai or Oman as many Westerners already live there - but no, the women in your house need to stay covered or at least modest (no showing flesh is allowed) - and no, you cannot celebrate non-Islamic festivals in the open but only in the privacy of your homes. And no liquor please.

Of course the problem with this is that since the days of Empire we have carefully cultivated the worst and most ignorant dictatorships in order to control the area, and have extinguished any chances of democratic reforms. Nowadays, our role has been taken over by the Americans. As a result, we get cheap oil, but no human rights. I could bore you with the details of Middle Eastern history, but I doubt you'd be interested. Why not go over there and find out for yourself?

By the way, nothing I have said about what Western countries have done is to excuse the behaviour of people like Saddam and the rest.

I've often thought about this but seriously you can imagine trying that in there nasty wee countries. Your wife will be stoned for showing her nose let alone wearing a swimming costume. You will be beheaded for nothing(where as inthis country you can murder and get away with it) and your family would probs be kidnapped and tortured and killed by extremist groups.

The middle east if very large place with many country, Some country are different than others. Move to Dubai that very rich area richist in the world to be sure. You find very laid back there since filled tourist and rich contractors.
