we are currently waiting for the approval of her k-1 visa that we filed just about 11/2 month ago, can she apply for J-1 visa, she really wants to do something or work. would this affect the k-1?

yes, but i guess what i really want to know is if filing the J1 could affect the approval of her k1? or if it would make the process longer?

you are applying for K-1 -- which requires the fiance to stay in her country and be available for an interview at the embassy. But she also wants to get a J-1 visa to live and work in USA.
This is NOT possible. She wont be at home to go to the interview for the K-1 so that will be denied. If you apply again for the K-1 they look at you are LOT more deeply.
I strongly suggest the fiancee stay home and work in their own country. |

Her chances of getting one are slim. With a K-1 visa pending she is a definite overstay risk. They could decide that the reason for the J-1 visa was to circumvent the immigration laws and decide to do an in depth investigation to be sure of her which may delay the K-1 visa.
