hi there,
last year my husband sent my passport and our children's birth papers along with his to get his indefinite leave to remain in the uk, he got his passport with his visa inside, and all the other paper work came back, but not my passport or the kids birth papers, i have called the home office in croydon many times over the last 5 weeks but know ones seems to know anything they just tell me we are dealing with it but its been over 5 weeks, and i really need my passport, plus they told me to email them but i cant find the right email address, as anybody been though this who could help me? with numbers? emails? links?
thanks a lot, Additional Details they only needed my passport has id for my husband, he got his back, i think they lost mine, everytime i call i get the smae answer (we are looking in to it) last time i asked if they will refund me for my passport and my 3 kids brither papers and they told me we are going to end this call now as you are getting upset, and it took me 3days to get thought to them and the calls cost so much, i dont know wot to do get my self a other passoprt and 4get them, but then i think its my right to get my own back as its got 5 years left on it, it's driving me crazy

I would suggest that it is likely that they are indeed looking for the passports - and that they must have become detached from the original application as supporting docuements, for example birth certificates and photos and passports, would ordinarily be returned once the application has been resolved. If you are in no hurry to travel then I would sit tight and await the reply. If you need the passports to travel then pursue the HO, stating a date by which they must return the documents (give reasonable notice) and observing that you will hold them liable for the cost of lost tickets if they do not return the documents. I would suggest that if any documents have been misplaced then they should cough for the value and/or replacement. I would imagine they are desperately searching their offices for the return of the docs! |

5 weeks ???? Girlie, for the home Office, that sum up to only 5 seconds. Be ready to get lucky in about 5 month.
As for finding someone to talk to, they will make you turn around and around until you come back to square one !
If you want results and got some money to loose, your best bet is to employ a Solicitor.
Good luck ! |

5 weeks really isn't that much time. My solicitor told me to expect at least 13 weeks to process anything at the Home Office, and possibly longer.
Next time you call them, ask them specifically who you need to email or call, and don't get off the phone until they give you a specific email address or telephone number of someone who can help you. |
