well really all these polish and other immigrants working for low wages, jobs all of us previously could and would turn our noses up to, are being scapegoated. they are merely pawns, and its not a crime trying to survive, and thats wot they are doing really, i reckon you should take your anger out on the government, not the immigrants...

though i agree with you, the government has a lot to answer for, its irreponsible to bring in tons of foreigners to do cheap labour at any time, not just during a recession, because just by virtue of the fact they are in the uk is part of the problem - the economy always goes in cycles - lawmakers know this - thats why you cant bring in tons of immigrants when things are good, cos when things go bad, british people are out of work. like now. and its not right.

the answer is to, during good times, allow them in as needed, but only if there is very low unemployment among british citizens, and only strictly temporary, subject to work permit renewal (or not) every six months, no more (eg if the economic climate changes their work permit will not be renewed). companies should be required by law in this country to give priority to british citizens for any job, at any time. this would also help.

this way, if foreigners still want to come here, they know that its riskier than it is now, and that they will not be entitled to benefits if they lose their job, but will be deported if they are not in work. that would put a lot of them off, especially with families with small children. harsh? maybe. but its not britains job to put these people first - that is for their own countries to do.

i mean, i cant go down the road to a posh house and expect them to just take me in, cook me dinner and let me sleep there and live there whilst they kick out their own kids, can i? and if they did do this, they would be insane, right?

The cliche "they only do the jobs the British don't want to do" was never true in the first place - it was just an excuse to employ foreigners on lower wages than British people were prepared to accept.

If you go to parts of Britain where there are few immigrants, you do actually find British people doing these jobs. So it was a complete lie to start with.

And the answer to your question? Fat f*cking chance.

The problem ain't the British workers are lazy its the owners of the companies who employ the foreign workers ,i have no gripe way foreign workers other than large companies have basically brought in foreign workers so to maximise there profits and keep wages down.if you go to a lot of areas in the south of England it is predominantly eastern European workers ,god i was the only nationalised Brit working in a company of over 40 people,that's a problem and the eastern Europeans cannot be condoned for taking these jobs as you said 1st come 1st serve .i can sympathise way both parties on this but Wat the government should do now is halt all incoming workers for any reason
