Can u move to australia or N/ Zealand without a qualification?

Hi all, I am considering moving to australia or new zealand as soon as possible (from the UK) i have a skill on the shortages list (roof tiler) but a friend of mine would like to come along too, though he has no skill, will either country accept him for a visa in any way shape or form??? answers from those in the know would be very appreciated.

As far as Australia is concerned, he may be able to come for 12 months (or 24 if he meets certain conditions) if he is eligible for a Working Holiday visa, but he will not be able to get any other type of work visa without qualifications.

It will even be quite difficult for you to get anything other than a working holiday visa at present as Roof Tiler is only on the Migrant Occupations in Demand List (MODL) and applications for MODL occupations are not being processed at present. Only visa applications for Critical Skills List (CSL) occupations are currently being processed.

The situation is much the same for your friend in New Zealand and a bit better for you as your occupation is on the NZ immediate Skills Shortage List.

Unless he has a skill that either of the countries needs then no. If he is wealthy that might be another way.

The only visa he can get is as a tourist or possibly a working holiday visa if he is under 30.

From what I understand to get into Australia you need to have a skill/qualification. Apparently it is pretty tough.

both countries have a jobs in demand lists and prefer to accept people with skills in those areas.
