No, you cannot own property in Mexico unless you are a citizen. Too bad the US didn't think of that 100 years ago, then the Saudis would not own our counrty.

Yes,check in any realty company, you can find a nice places in Puerto Vallarta, is like a USA community,a lot a US citizens live in Mexico whit social security wages,Chapala is another place whit a lot a US citizens,money is money, only wen you travel to another countries can find the thrust, also, you know illegals can buy here land?

Yes you can legally buy land in Mexico if you are a US citizen or of any other nationality, but you can't buy land on the boarder or on the beachfront, its just a mater of national security. The Mexican government can take your land away from you, but it can also take the land of its own citizens if it needs too without any form of compensation. But if that happens you can count on the US Embassy and Consulates for assistance and legal help.

YES, it is allowed no ,but you must make sure the person ownes it. get an attorney there. It is not allowed so easily if the land is less than 50 miles to the ocean front. then you must get a local bank to own it in trust for you. but that is just like in USA where most people do not own their home or land but it is held in trust for them by a bank or title company with a trust deed. but over 50 miles from shore is unrestricted. They do not want rich foriegn invetsors to buy up and own all their oceanfront land which is quite beautiful and sueful. Californians would buy it all and keep the Mexicans out of the seafront and beaches if you let them. so the restriction is fair and necessary.

You can buy property but you cannot own it. you will not have in your possession the title to your property. You are also not aloud to own any luxury land such as ocean front property. Mexico's immigrations policies are the strictest in the hemisphere. They are such hypocrites

Of course US Dollars in Mexico is Better then the rarest metal or gem stone, to most people there. In fact it's a great first investment. My friend's dad bought 20 acres of land there for 780 US Dollars and a few cattle for a little over a 1000 dollars from a poor farmer who was very old.

He was Very happy to have 1780 US Dollars in his pocket, so I was told.

I think it also helped that he had traveled many times to Mexico and had family there.

Because of the laws in Mexico, he could make money off the land and cows, he could even live there, but he won't see the title to the property.

It's kinda like a LEASEHOLD!!!!

You can buy land in Mexico but you cannot own it unless your a Mexican citizen. If you are an American citizen and buy property in Mexico, the Mexican government can take it away from you without cause and they do not have to pay you compensation. I strongly recommend that you do not buy land in Mexico.

EXACTLY! No fool with any comon sense is going to deny money, even if it is illegal. Mexico's economy is much, MUCH smaller than ours and they can scalp money off of us at a rate that we think is a deal! AKA: $40,000 to them might only be $4,000 or less to us.

Anyway, who in their right mind will deny money? If you did, you'd be utterly stupid. Oh, and to answer your question, I believe the answer is yes.
