We've never really tried to keep the Brits out, in spite of Bunker Hill, and the fact that your troops burned the White House in the War of 1812. So, if you qualify, you can certainly get one. the problem is how to qualify if you don't have any useful close relatives who aren't US citizens or green card holders already. It would be very difficult for you to apply for an immigrant visa directly, although there are some available for employment. Of course, if you have a spare $1,000,000 or even only $500,000, you could qualify for an investor immigrant visa. Your best best would probably be to try to get an employment based nonimmigrant visa. the H1b skilled worker visa can actually lead to green card status, but those postions require a university degree or its equivalent in training and experience, and they can take some time to set up. Likewise, a student visa could lead to that, especially if you take the Optional Practical Training year, that would give you a chance to work for a year and frequently leads to job offers under the H1b program. Otherwise, you might consider hanging out at the local McDonalds and chatting up the American girls who come in. |

Technically, anyone is supposed to be allowed to immigrate here, but during the last 4 decades immigrants from non-European countries have been favored. Especially those from Mexico and Latin American countries.
Good luck in getting here! If all else fails, learn Spanish and sneak in over the Rio Grande. |
