My fiance (from canada) and i (from the US) want to be with each other so bad, so we've decided that we're going to get married to be with each other. We're planning to go through a canadian marriage visa, as going through the US right now is hard due to the economy and the hassle. Is a Canadian Marriage Visa easier than going through the US? Can anyone tell me some steps and their story of going through it? i've already looked up on the process, and it seems like the canadian one is much faster/easier, any opinions on this?

It's not too complicated in Canada. You need to send proof of your marriage being real, that can be photos of you together, letters, emails, chat-logs, phone bills etc.
I would advice you to make what is called an outland application rather than inland. The difference is that with outland, you list yourself as living in the US still, even though you may or may not be "visiting" your husband in Canada. It is faster this way. You can then expect to get your permanent residency in 5 to 10 months. If you are with him in Canada on a visit visa, you need to apply to extend your visitor status before your 6 months are up to keep yourself legal.
There is also what is called an inland application. If you do that one, you are asking for your file to be processed completely in Canada. You would apply for an open work permit at the same time. You would get the work permit at your first stage approval in about 6 months if all goes well but permanent residency would take you 1 year to 18 months. The downside to inland is that you are advised not to travel while it's being processed because if you are for any reason denied entry to Canada while coming back, that application is gone. It also takes longer with inland if there are any problems with your application and then you would be stuck in Canada without being able to work. |
