Hi, I'm a Canadian citizen. My question is if I were to get a job in Canada near the US border, and rent a room or an appartment in the US, would I be able to cross the border daily for work, and apply for citizenship in US? I understand you need to live in the US for so long (5 years) at permanent residence, but would an appartment/rented room count for that? and will I still be allowed to work in Canada while applying?

You can not just live in the US. To get citizenship you need a lawfully admitted permanent resident. You need a basis for that. Usually a relative or a company that wants to hire you. |
