Canadians are non-immigrants to the United States?

I read somewhere that Canadians are NOT considered immigrants, like they are citizens, but Mexicans ARE considered, IF it is true, i'm not saying it is, but, IF it is, why is that? is it because we share a common language and or are really good friends or what?
Additional Details
Well yea, when they come here its like the European union sorta, because it is like they have the same rights as america when there IN america.

Visiting Canadians are non-immigrants. Those who intend to move permanently to the USA (legally) are immigrants.

Immigrant and non-immigrant categories are the same for everyone, although it's somewhat easier for Canadians to enter as visitors or to get work visa's (which are both non-immigrant categories).

In immigration terms, a non-immigrant is a person that goes to another country but does not intend to stay permanently. For example, a student visa is a non-immigrant visa, because the student intends to leave the United States. An immigrant visa, on the other hand, also known as a green card, is what gains a person lawful permanent residency, and in those cases the immigrant intends to remain in the United States.

I do not know precisely what the difference is when it comes to Canadians and Mexicans crossing the border, but I know they are either receiving non-immigrant visas, border permits, etc. (Green card benefits and the requirements to obtain them are the same.) The United States may treat non-immigrants from each country differently based on reciprocal agreements, the likelihood of the foreign national returning home, etc.

Canadians coming to the states for residence are considered immigrants. I don't know who told you otherwise, but that person would be wrong. Immigration has nothing to do with language or alliance, it has to do with jurisdiction of a governing body. As soon as anyone moves from non-US soil to settle (with permanent intentions) on US soil, they are considered an immigrant. This is the same settling in or coming from any nation on this planet.

Canadians are immigrants. They would have to go through the process like everyone else.
The only nations whose citizens are not immigrants once they reach US soil are Cubans.

Well, technically both aren't immigrants because you never said anything about them coming to America.

They have to go through the same process as Mexicans to immigrate. However, a Canadian would receive a lot less scrutiny (provided they don't have a criminal record in Canada) because of the current general perception of Mexicans.
