A friend of mine got approved for F1 status on March 25th and contacted the school who had originally issued the I-20 to him. He had informed the school tht he has applied for change of status and he would probably won't get the decision in time for the quarter to start. The school was fine and said he could apply for the next quarter. Now that his visa is approved he contacted the university and they're saying that he will be out of status if he doesn't enroll today. Obviously today has passed. Can the school do that?

well, they're worried that he might have entered the US and simply not shown up. So, they'll cut his status and inform USCIS, which is actually what they're supposed to do. So, yes they can do that. |
