I am a US green card holder, and a chinese citizen. (P.R. of China). My passport is expiring in December. I am taking a trip to China and Thailand in July. Do I have to renew my passport wince it is expiring within 6 months of the trip?

probably but contact the nearest Chinese embassy/consulate and they can tell you.

You can renew your passport six months prior to the expiration date. Which is June.
