NO ONE IS THE CORRECT ANSWER. THERE MAY BE REASON IS WHEN YOU ADOPT THE CITIZENSHIP OF OTHER COUNTRY.

None of the above.

For those who say B..residence abroad can not remove citizenship...acquiring citizenship of a foreign country can

Belle
The correct answer is none of the above.
The ONLY way a person can loose/no longer have American citizenship is if they decide to become a citizen of another country, and also at the same time decide to renounce their American citizenship. Which involves a small ceremony of sorts, and there are fees involved. The United States does not care if a person has dual citizenship.

none of the above - you usually have to RENOUNCE it.

Depends on what country are we talking about.

USA allows dual citizenship and none of 'em above apply for loosing it.

if you are an indian you need not to be worry of your citizenship loss by the consequences what you have given. but when it comes to other countries there laws prevails, citizenship loss might be by your second option (residense abroad)

mamour
you did not precise what citizenship you hold or the person you are talking about? the Us allows dual or multiple citizenship,
as a US citizen, you are allowed to live anywhere as long as you hold the correct visa/permission,even if you were in a country without visa? it does not concern the US,you would still keep your citizenship.
marriage to a foreigner cannot revoke your citizenship.
poverty does not strip anyone from their citizenship.
birth? what are you talking about? if you are a citizen? so? what is the correct question here?

the answer is B. America is big on the idea of single citizenship over dual.

Lost? Well, the only logical one would be residence abroad. Many countries have laws that you cannot have dual citizenship, so if you move to another country and apply for citizenship, you will lose the citizenship of your original country. Citizenship can be GAINED by birth or marriage, and poverty isn't an issue regarding citizenship in any country I've heard of.
