Citizenship for my husband?
Find answers to your legal question.

Citizenship for my husband?

I have been married to a Swede now for 5 years and we have lived in the US together for 4. We want to file for citizenship and I just wanted to ask the people who seem to be well versed a couple questions.
Do we file the N400 paperwork for this process? He is already a 10 yr green card holder, we are in good standing and all that jazz.
Is this all we need to do is file this paperwork, and he studies for the test, we pay the 500 bucks and thats it? What happens if he should fail the test.. do we have to pay that 500 bucks to take it again?
Thanks in advance.

He can file form N-400. There is a helpful pamphlet called form M-476 which can be downloaded from www.cis.gov which you'll find valuable.

All naturalization applicants must demonstrate good moral character, attachment, and favorable disposition.

He should carefully read the N-400 application instructions before applying.

The general requirements for administrative naturalization include:
a period of continuous residence and physical presence in the United States;
*
residence in a particular USCIS District prior to filing;
*
an ability to read, write, and speak English;
*
a knowledge and understanding of U.S. history and government;
*
good moral character;
*
attachment to the principles of the U.S. Constitution; and,
*
favorable disposition toward the United States.

Well we really have to read your complete
question as you ask many questions and
really give no background...

1) If he has had a "Green Card" X10 years...
File the paperwork,Pay his money and take the test...

2) If he Fails it No Citizenship...

3) You don't mention if you are
a US Citizen or not ???
