Cost of immigration compared to cost to keep them out?

Cost of immigration compared to cost to keep them out?

so i just read an answer where someone sited that the cost of illegal immigrants is 90 billion dollars. So if that is the total cost of all illegal immigrants , then why are we upset. Couldn't we take the 60 billion we paid for a 700 mile fence (out of 2,000 miles of the border) and offset that 90 million? then lets take the cost of the border patrol, and investigations, and cost to deport, and i'm sure we could make up the cost.

So, maybe i'm wrong, and maybe someone can link to an actual creditable source, but isn't the cost to keep them out costing more than to allow them to stay?
Additional Details
Anne: it takes 5 minutes to break through the fence. well actually averaging 3-5 minutes. So it really isn't keeping anyone out.

As far as cost, if we took the same amount of money that we spent on the fence, we could give 19 million to each country. so according to one poster, that is 2 years of paying for all illegal immigrants, instead of delaying their trip by 5 minutes.

Maybe i'm weird, but i think 2 years of paying for immigrants makes more sense than a 5 minute delay.

Yes, of course. But who cares? Remember what kind of civilization we are living in. You have got to realize, no matter what facts you put out there about the truth of illegal immigrants, someone is always going to try and prove you wrong with their silly speeches, about who derserves what, illegal is illegal,...yada yada yada. They are just unhappy in their own lives and need someone to piggyback the blame on!

immigration =/= illegal immigration.

Stop interchangibly using them.

The cost of letting them stay is even more - they drain our tax dollars on services (food stamps, welfare, etc) and take away jobs from American citizens. Plus all of the taxes that they DO NOT pay.
No, I don't have exact figures - but the cost of putting up a fence and the border patrol to keep them out is something that I do not mind paying so that my kids and I can have jobs and live.

We call them illegal aliens, but we should call them illegal alien criminals. We should do that because they want to go home when they scored the big bucks.. and are basically in town to do just that. Sooo.. they cheat very, very well. And so it will continue until a couple of Federal Programs are in place later in 2009. Some arrests will be coming as early as June.. more later, and then a lot in middle 2009.

Because the cheat well, no one knows how much they take from the system. The figure is less than a trillion dollars, and keeping them gone is less than that by far. The Anti's have a huge number of sites that have testified before congress, and written position papers for those folks. But these two sites are really good places to simply study.

There are hundreds more.. I will stop with those two.

Keeping them out will save the American Taxpayer almost a trillion dollars, and keep a lot of kids out of the dope repair factories... and jail.

There's a greater cost than money. There's public safety, national soverignty, and more.

Just one countys example of expenses due to illegals. Don't forget that there are thousands of counties across the country in the same boat Bluefootedpig.

"The exception for K-12 education, though, is a pretty big one -- and it's borne, generally, by state and local governments. Wisconsin is an example, as shown in this report

on a study in March by that state's Policy Research Institute:

The data show Brown County loses an average of about $9 million a year on immigrants. In other words, immigrants consume more in state and local services than they pay into the system through state and local taxes. The biggest cost burden is education for children, which is the most expensive public service."

So they may "pay" at the federal level, but net costs tend to be concentrated at the state and local levels.

it is very hard to say what it could cost to keep them, deport them, and what they are currently costing us because no unbiased studies have been conducted. The majority of the statistics that are being produced are coming from political groups, and they omit crucial factors in costs. for example some include the education of so called "anchor babies" (who are U.S. citizens) into the equation.

so until the government decides to start caring about illegal immigration and do some REAL studies then we wont really know. and on top of that most of the information we get cant be to accurate because these people operate under the radar, and use fake documents or none at all so it is hard to differentiate who is who.

If you read these sources you'll see the cost is a lot higher than $90
billion per year. You also have to take into effect the over crowding and misuse of our hospitals. Over crowding and "dumbing down" of our children's education. over use of natural resources. over population.
Increased crime. over crowded prisons. extra cost to educate because of ESL classes. It isn't so simple as taking money from here and putting it there.

The cost of educating anchor babies needs to be included in the cost of illegal immigration because these children would not be here is it wasn't for their illegal parents. Therefore they are a direct cost of illegal immigration.

c'mon ppl
Exactly Sasori, their anchor babies are the biggest problem are they not? That is what is anchoring the rest of their giant families here! They cannot possibly be paying enough taxes to cover 6 or more children in one house, to go to school! They can cram 5 families into one house, but all their children take up seats at school and property taxes, not federal taxes pay for that usually. I property, one tax, it isn't based per-pupil. And jobs, we can't even get a county/state/local job without speaking fluent dirt spanish now- how can the average American learn that in college? I will tell you, they cannot. The language they teach you in school is useless in real world conversation, with immigrants (legal or illegal)- and pretty embarassing if you've ever tried it! What will become of Americans, when we can't get benefitted positions that pay our mortgages we once enjoyed when our government loved us? Before they sold us out for their new world order agenda?
