im a british citizen and i over stayed my 3 months visa by 6 months
we want to know if its possible to get married?
i need some advice please?
and what would i need if it was possible

Of course you can get married. However, if you want to stay here permanently you would have to return to the UK to apply for legal status. |

You need to get married. No laws stopping you. Then file to adjust your status. Worse case scenario, you will end up deported, then your husband would need to immigrate to the UK (much better country in my opinion anyway)
The USA DOES allow dual citizenship. You will NOT have to renounce your British citizenship in order to get it.

Yes, of course you can get married. You're an illegal alien, but there's no laws against marrying someone whose visa has expired. Congratulation on your upcoming nuptials.
Note that contrary to what the lady below says, marrying an American citizen does not make you one. You would still have british citizenship, but you would be eligible for conditional "Permanent Resident" status (green card). You would have to stay married for 2 years to get the conditional status removed.
You can apply for naturalization after a few years to become an American citizen, but you would have to give up your British citizenship. |

If you are presently living in a state that does not require an SSN to get a marriage license then you shouldn't have any problem getting married. Getting legal is a different story. How EXACTLY did you get here? If it was via the VWP you have to return home and will be banned from returning for 3 years. If not you could apply for a change of status and see what USCIS has to say.
