Could someone please explain how all americans are immigrants?

All Americans are not immigrants. Most Americans are born American citizens. The settlers that came over were not immigrants, they were just settlers. The American Indians were settlers too. The land that is now America was merely unclaimed land, therefore not a country at the time. The ones who claim we are all immigrants are either ignorant or trying a diversionary tactic to excuse people invading our country illegally, namely the illegal aliens.

People refuse to acknowledge that there is a difference between settlers and immigrants. The so called "Native American" IS NOT from the U.S. They are from Asia.

They're not. They say this because, back at the beginning of humankind, there were no people on this continent. Even Native Americans came from somewhere else. Also because nearly everyone in this country will run into someone that immigrated to this country back in their family tree. HOWEVER, after I believe either 4 or 5 generations, you are considered to be an American. Period.

"America" was established by Europeans coming from (obviously) Europe. Anyone in the United States who is white has European roots and ancestors, and these Europeans were all, at one time, immigrants. People of any other cultures also have ancestors who came to the United States from other countries, so they too were immigrants. The only people in America who are not immigrants or do not have immigrant ancestors are those who are "pure" Native Americans.

People use that argument to try to make it sound OK for people to break laws by coming here illegally. It is an ignorant argument at best and a blatant lie at worst. Anyone with any form of IQ resembling intelligent life can see right through the smoke screen they are trying to put up.

According to that definition, myself, parents, grandparents, and great grandparents were all "Native Americans". The illegal-supporters have no ground left to stand on, so are now grasping at straws, and that is why their arguments are so weak.

People just don't get it, on either side I guess. PEOPLE. Saying we are all immigrants is akin to saying we are all slave owners, because our ancestors owned slaves. It is ignorant.

not all Americans are immigrants. the only immigrants was are ancestors. i myself is not a immigrant. i was born and raised here. my father and mother was and there mother and father was and there mother and father was. which that does not make me a immigrant. i did not move from somewhere else to settle to my new home country either did my parents or there parents and there parents. my family came here 1700's sometime or 1800's so that makes me a full blooded American. and not a immigrant!

Because... and I know you will find this hard to believe... Unless your heritage is strictly, 100% Native American (Indian), YOUR family IMMIGRATED here from somewhere else.

For instance, I am American, born and raised, as was my mother and her mother. BUT, my great-grandmother (maternal) was from Romania. My great-grandfather (maternal) is from Russia. My great-grandfather (paternal) was from Germany, and my great-grandmother (paternal) was from Poland.

THEY ALL CAME HERE FROM ELSE WHERE.

That is why we are all immigrants. (Or were...) That's why America is called the melting pot. We have come from everywhere. And, this is also why we are all "upset" (me, I'm pis*sed) about this Mexico crap.

WE had to come to America LEGALLY. We had to follow all the rules. Follow all the codes. Apply for the permits, go through the citizenship classes, etc.

THEY think that since they "snuck in" that we should just GIVE IT to them.

And what about the Cubans (aka Boat-people) who risk their lives on "rafts" trying to get to America...? They STILL have to do things legally once they reach land.

They're not. The first Native Americans migrated to this continent from Asia through Alaska. The first Europeans were colonists/settlers - not immigrants.

Since America was not a "country" at the time - it was just a continent inhabited by diverse tribes of Native Americans - then this definition does not apply to them.

In essence, everyone has come from some place else. You see everyone in the US has either migrated to the states themselves or has had ancestors do so in some form or fashion. More than likely your parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, or some parents even before them have come over to the states in the past. Even Native Americans migrated to the states across the Bering Straight.

well honey... there are: Asians, latinos, blacks, whites, italians, arabians, and the list goes on and on... Maybe check a little back on HISTORY... That should explain furthur. This country IS made of different immigrants and races and this is America. They come for a better life, work and live in the U.S. or sometimes they go back to their countries. It all started form the Native Americans (Inidians) That's it...

Well not all americans are immigrants, but America started with immigrants. America is consisted of people all around the world.
People say "All americans are immigrants" because they are saying that America is very diversed. America doesnt consist of one culture, one heritage, or one race. It consists of thousands.
