Awesome job for posting this. I was actually searching the internet yesterday for info on this, and couldn't find anything telling me whether or not this was actually in Congress yet. It should be our official language. For years people have adapted to learning the English language before it was ever the official language. I, for one, hope the bill passes. Mind you, I have immigrants in my family from other countries that are non-English speaking. |

I would not expect it to pass. This is a nation of many different cultures; to declare an official language would be spitting in our founding fathers' faces. We welcome everyone (legally).
I do agree that English should be the predominant language, however it should not be "official." |

America has no offical language we speak whatever the majrty of the people here speak. The same reson English is the first langauge languge and Christmas is an offical holiday ( the majorty of Amricans are English speaking Christans) spanish may become our new first languge. The only reson to make English the offical languge is to appese us white people who are scared of losing our majority. |

I can't wait! We will save so much money not having to translate the law books, or voters pamphlets, or anything else into other languages. Maybe then you won't have to learn spanish to get a job then. They will finally be required to learn English. Thank you for letting us know! |

As it should be,i bet if you went to mexico,and said to the mexican people you must learn English to be able to communicate with me they simply beat you ,and leave you lying on the street while they walk away with your belongings. |

Seems a bit ridiculous. Every nationality who migrated here was always able to change to the English Language. Why do the Mexicans think they are special and don't have to change? If we demand they obey our rules then I guess speaking only English must be in the rules also. My analogy; if you don't like the language, of a country where you want to live, then don't go there. |
