Did you see they brought back the Immigration Bill as 'new' legislation and are planning to ram it through?

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/chi-immig_0619jun19,1,5697257.story?track=rss

"Though senators and advocates supporting reform are being careful to avoid calling any measure a "poison pill," the list appears to be problematic enough that Senate leaders are at least considering employing the rare tactic of packaging amendments to avoid losing critical support and votes.

Under the procedure, Reid would introduce a single, 22-part amendment, dividable into component parts for debate. Known as a "clay pigeon," it would offer the bill's supporters a means of staging the debate more or less free from interference, with the objective of keeping enough senators together to maintain the 60 votes needed to thwart a filibuster. "

What do you think?

I did read this on the Drudge Report.

We must continue our e-mails, faxes and phone calls.

We need to remind our leaders which country they work for.

The backlash of the grassroots America is continuing to grow!

Freedom requires effort, work, and diligence.....

From what I understand from watching the voting on the immigration bill on C-span; If the number of middle age and older illegal’s that are presently working where made legal, many would be eligible to receive social security in the near future without having paid much into it. The future of Social Security is dismal for the Americans who have paid into it for their working lives. The system could not sustain this older illegal population. The same with the child tax credit, even if parents paid a $3 or $5000 fine, most would receive even more back at income tax time. Working for low wages on farms would really tax the welfare system in just food stamps alone. What about medical coverage and housing? Crime, boredom, and education? There is no end to the future costs! In a passing thought what Clinton said during the debate really gave me nightmares, she must really need the votes from the presently MINORITY illegals! Keep it up and the support will allow them to be the ruling majority, don’t say I didn’t warn you!

I guess the saying really is true.... The wicked don't need a rest. And what do we do with clay pigeons? Why does Kyl, and Graham say that they proposed the 4.4 billion dollars to the bill for the border security, when we already know it was Bush who did when he returned from his little traveling tour?

Here's a part in the article that gives me hope that the new bill dies again.

Several of the amendments threaten to be the most divisive challenges to date. They come from both sides of the aisle and include a proposal by Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Texas) to require undocumented immigrants in the U.S. to return to their home countries before they apply for visas to legalize their status, and a proposal by Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) to increase family reunification under the new system.

And did you happen to notice this in the same link?

1) we do all we can to get any senator who votes for cloture out of office.

2) we call on those in opposition to filibuster this bill.

3) we start holding our Congressman to account. It must not pass the House.

We accept the challenge and hereby declare our desire to join the fight! We the grassroots. We the PEOPLE!!!

There's already immigration laws on the books. They are rarely if ever enforced though. So what makes everyone think that this "new" legislation will somehow be different? Will it be enforced? Not likely. It's just more of the SOS coming from those imbeciles in Washington. Yeah, pass the frigging bill and sign it into law, it's not going to make a single bit of difference.

daydreamer2
Yeah and look at what that scumbag Bush was busy doing on June 16, the same day he and all the other degenerate politicians knew that American Patriots were protesting this Immigration Bill IN WASHINGTON D.C.!!! He was urging Hispanics to support his bill! http://www.washingtontimes.com/upi/20070616-073705-6273 For full coverage of this event please follow this link and SEE that there are people out there fighting tooth and nail to uphold our Constitution, that those traitors in Washington are trying to destroy!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_p63ZbI6gM

This surprises you?

My suggestion is that we use Reid and anyone else that votes for this as a "Clay Pigeon".

Cyclops: It doesn't wear lipstick very well either.

This is the game politicians play. If they create enough confusion, and keep the underhanded deals of the "key players"contained in to the back room , they can get everyone lined up and cram this down our throats before we have time to protest. Once it is signed, no one will care about the amendments. Simular to the fence. After the decision to build it, it was immediately forgotten. And so it goes. After this, it will be on to the next law to further screw up America.

In my lifetime, this is probably the most important piece of legislation that has come before congress. Our future, our childrens future, and the future of America as one nation, is truly at risk. At a time when our government should be acting seriously, intelligently, and with grave concern as to what they are about to do, I see so many incompetent buffoons in the disguise of congressmen and women. They are not passing laws to protect America, they are not representing the people who sent them to Washington , they're playing games as if there will be no consequences. Making much fanfare over legislation that will never be enforced. Running up astronomical bills we will have to pay. They live in a different world from that of their constituents, and illegal immigrants will never touch their lives. Except maybe as a servant.

I don't know about your Senators, but I can say in complete honesty that Trent Lott is NOT representing Mississippi. We have sent so many emails, faxes, and phone calls, that his Washington # has been bombarded to the point that it is currently disconnnected. The majority of us feel we have been betrayed. We are AGAINST AMNESTY. It's hard to believe his actions and the things he is saying. His latest statement that "Talk Radio is running America and something must be done about it," stems from the fact that we have a strong radio station who keeps us informed regarding our state and national government, and things are starting to change. Apparently he soesn't want us informed. Guess he forgot about the internet. Our other congressman is simply sitting on the fence.

If you are lucky enought to have congressmen who are fighting this bill, fighting for your rights, your future, and the future of America, email him a Thank you, and tell him the people of Mississippi, who have no representation, Thank him also. For others, get on the phone, write emails, don't go down without a fight, don't let anyone give away our beloved America, and don't let anyone else take it from us.

Some people have no shame. Unfortunately, many of them are serving in the US Senate.

I guess it's time to start working the phone again.

yes, I heard it and I would like to know where they plan to appropriate the extra $4.4 billion promised (one of the amendments) towards border security. supposedly the immigrants are supposed to foot the bill. sorry, I don't really know of any immigrants wealthy enough to pay a $5k to $8k fine. do you? or how about honest enough to admit, "I've only been here two years.." and face deportation. hmmm. doesn't make sense to me.

Petey
well its new because its not the same as the one weeks ago...the republicans can make amendments to the new proposal

They are still trying to thwart the wishes of the majority of American citizens. It is time to be more vigilant and monitor Senate debate and voting closely. It is time to continue faxing, mailing and calling our elected officials to remind them of our views and that a vote for this bill will cost them their offices during their next election attempt.

If you aren't already contacting the House of Representatives, we all need to do so in case the Senate pass this flawed bill.

Well, this is how the process works. So, I guess we wait and see.....

Excellent news is what I think. I could go either way on this bill, the big reason I support it is because it contains a certain piece of immigration legislation, and that is legalization for a certain group of undocumented immigrants, not necessarily all of them.

AaronAA
That's wonderful. Hope something semi-good passes. Immigrants need and deserve this.

I hope congressman take the smartest decision for smart borders and comprehensive reforms for the well of Americans as a nation of Immigrants.
