Do I need a passport to enter Canada from the U.S.A?

As of June 1, 2009, everyone from every country that comes to Canada by air, land and sea needs a passport or equivalent travel document.

Before June 1, 2009, U.S. citizens do not necessarily need a passport entering Canada by land or sea, but need valid ID that proves identity and citizenship.

Currently, everyone arriving in Canada by air needs a passport or equivalent travel document, such as a NEXUS Card.

If you are a US citizen, only thing you needed was picture ID, birth certificate and the such in the past. But now, I believe passports may be needed as it is for Canadians to enter the USA
They have changed the rules recently.

Here: Bottom line: As of June 1, 2009, everyone from every country that comes to Canada by air, land and sea needs a passport or equivalent travel document.

Before June 1, 2009, U.S. citizens do not necessarily need a passport entering Canada by land or sea, but need valid ID that proves identity and citizenship.

NO

but you WILL need one to GET BACK INTO YOUR OWN COUNTRY

I absolutely LOVE how the USA has such great respect for their own citizens. (NOT)
