It's not about race, religion or gender. It is about legality, safety and health concerns.
There should never be any rights for illegals but we see that Bush and his cronies in Mexico and Canada want a North American Union and the only way to do this is to open the borders and let them flood in, thus taking the country over.
I say get your guns and prepare for the revolution!
There are those out there whom are going to take America back!
Bush has ruined America and the people will one day, take America back!
Are you prepared? |

I'm a conservative and I believe in "immigrant rights". It's the "illegal immigrant rights" that make me upset! |

What is missing is the word "illegal". whenever you see the word "immigrant" or "migrant", what is really meant is "illegal" immigrant, which is another way of saying 'criminal'. So what we have when someone says "immigrant rights" is really an off-base rationalization for rights for criminals that supercede and take preference over the rights of legal citizens.
It's a pathetic, shameful scam. |

Most if not all believe in immigrants rights, it's illegals that we take issue with, as should our would be elected officials |

Yes, when it is done legally |

Certain aspects of the left and the media like to dissolve the distinction between Immigrants, and illegal immigrants. |

Immigration and "Illegal immigration" are two separate entities.
One you are trying to come to the US legally and the other, you just come here regardless. |

Legal immigrants have almost all the rights of a citizen. I've never heard anybody say that's not how it should be. |

If there here illegally they have no rights except to get the heck out of our country. |

Depends which immigrants and which rights. Legal immigrants have all rights except a few that are reserved for US citizens, such as the right to vote. Illegal immigrants have almost no rights, except basic human rights and 14th amendment rights of due process. |

When Rudy Giuliani was Mayor of New York, He had to keep order for the street of New York City. The illegal aliens that were already there sneaked in to this country before he took office. To maintain law and order in his city, he had to allow illegal aliens to 1: call the police to report a crime if they were victimized and 2: keep the children of illegal aliens off the streets by sending them to school.
As President, his responsibility will be to maintain National Security and securing the Mexican Border. Illegal Alien has basic human rights not rights guaranteed them by the U.S. Constitution. We are not obligated to provide them will free counsel because they ILLEGALLY crossed the border without documentation and must be deported.
I am not against immigation, after all, I am one myself. Just do it the right and legal way. |

Define 'immigrant'. Illegal immigrants or legal ones?
Conservative as I am, I think the Patriot Act removal of protections of habeus corpus for legal residents is appalling. To that extent I am for 'immigrant rights'. Illegal immigrants have the rights they get back home, and basic rights not to be tortured, etc., but no right to be here. |

I am a liberal trapped in a Conservatives body, and I have no problem with immigrant's rights. I am, however assuming that the term refers strictly to the rights of people who are now American citizens but have come here from all parts of the globe. Why the confusion? Don't they have Prozac where you live? |

Us conservatives believe in immigrant rights...it's what our country is based on. The ILLEGAL immigrants, however, have NO rights whatsoever. They are criminals who need to be punished for their crimes, and leave our country and not come back...ever. |

You shouldn't be confused. It's very simple. Like most Americans, they believe in immigrants rights NOT ILLEGAL ALIEN rights. ILLEGAL ALIENS are not immigrants nor legal residents of this country and deserve no consideration under the law.
See that was simple. I'm glad I could explain it to you. |

Black and White Brainwashing
Liberal as in the statue of liberty or as in "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." Liberal because you don't know the definition. Just say Progressive or Working Class.
Conservative as in Fiscally? Or Socially? Or Religiously? Or Judicially? Or Fascist? Just say old wealth or radical brainwashed religious like many of the conservative Muslims.
Now if you mean limited government - the current Republicans have expanded governments control over citizens.
Yes, racism and the KKK/Nazis still exist in the bible belt.
Please focus on corporations sending jobs abroad to slave-like sweatshops. Free trade is like slavery - Capitalizing on people and countries' lack of policy and human rights. The mass immigration increased because of free trade. |

People are confused about the words legal or illegal. At least some pretend to be, by using words like undocumented and other nonsense. I would venture a guess they were referring to Giuliani's stand against amnesty for illegals. |
|

Ashley
|
The problem with that quote is that it is vague. Legal immigrants deserve rights, and those rights should be protected. Illegal immigrants don't deserve all rights legitimate citizens enjoy, such as the right to vote, but they still should be recognized as a person under law and enjoy some legal protection. For example, if a person kills an illegal immigrant, that person should still be charged with murder.
I don't know Giuliani's history very well, so I don't know exactly what this article is referring to.
Since it is so vague, it is hard to answer your question, but conservative or not, opinions on this topic will vary between individuals. |

Legal immigrants are our new American citizens and deserve all of the rights available to American citizens. The nonsense about rights for illegals and their children make the issue very confusing.. |
