Australia and New Zealand have kind of a revolving door policy with each other, so any citizen of either country can live/work in the other without having to apply for permanent residence or work permits.

No, if you're a New Zealand citizen (PR isn't enough), you can live and work in Australia without any restrictions and without needing a permit. Be aware though that if it doesn't work out as you hope, you're not eligible for unemployment benefits.
