The poor do the rich man's work. When the poor doesn't do it fast enough they get worked overtime. All the while the rich man sits in his office and watches through the cameras, and when he sees something he doesn't like he sends a manager (overseer) to correct the problem.

The great degree of racial domination of Blacks that was acceptable in the United States, particularly in the South, up until the 1960s, no longer exists. However, if you are suggesting economic slavery, I think that is very much alive, and growing. The middle class is shrinking and the super rich are getting far richer. So obviously the ranks of the poor are growing and their enslavement more difficult to escape. In this later group, there are many Blacks.....

If you're talking about Mexicans, then not really. They are getting paid damn well for what is considered a "good living" in their country. They come here and work like dogs for 6months then go home and live like kings.

I think people of all races have more opportunity to succeed in this country than was ever available before. But I honestly think that people are not motivated to become better, as they once were.

I think I know where you are coming from on this issue. I work daily with the lower class of our society. I do agree that there is a corporate slavery overtaking America. We are working longer for less. My own state of OH in acted its own min. wage because the Federal wage just could not keep up with the cost of living. Even at my place of employment we get some chump change (pay raise) every year, however our pension out-pay, health insurance out-pay and taxes just keep going up and up...we truly are not getting a raise.

It is back, it's call welfare. When people receive money,food, housing, and etc, from the government, then they are the slave to the government. They must do and act as the government says.
You can also say taxpayers are slave to, if you fail to pay the unfair taxes, you can lose your property or go tho jail.

I think the labor wars of the late 1800s and early 1900s are coming back if big business is allowed to drown out worker rights by perpetually bringing in cheap strike breakers starving enough to be compelled to work for slave labor wages.

Yes, but not in the same sense as before. I believe to some extint we are ALL slaves to those who hold government offices. They sit on their glory and "earn" our tax dollars. After all, what other profession do you know that gets to vote on their own pay raises.

After the Civil war, The English with the help of the Americans searched for the next replacement of African Slaves. THe solution was Coolies. THey started out as indentrured servants but the condition worsen. They were initially needed to work the East Indies plantation. It got so bad that American clippers would dock in China and either trick or out right kidnapped Chinese to work these plantaion. THats how the term Shanghai came to play. THe english needed Chinese workers to balance off Indian coolies. THey would create hatred among the two to distract them from hating the English. The CHinese Coolies in AMerica came here in the most part of their free will. Abolitionist saw their rights dissolving and saw what was going around in the pacific and decided the best way to prevent the Chinese in AMerica to becoming full blown slaves was to outlawed them. They actually worked with the racist to create the Chinese Exclusion act to forbid any new Chinese from entering AMerica. I see a lot of similarities with what the Chinese went through as with what the illegal immigrants is going through. THey come here and then find themselves mistreated and with out rights.(At least in their minds). They are like the Chinese who came here of their free will, but they dis not know what they were entering in. THe problem and human rights violation was far worse back then though. There are also alot of stark differences too. I would consider them more of an underclass than a new breed of slaves.

no i just use Jose to mow my lawn, do my dishes, wash my feet, drive me around, pick my fruits, grow my melons, pick up my kids, teach me spanish, and thats basically it if u think that is a form of slavery then i guess its back

i think a form a slavery has always existed in america. when slavery ended many blacks had to go back to the same plantations they were enslaved in to work for pennies to survive. black people still struggle with race discrimination all over the country in some of the most subtle and blatant ways. even people of other races are oppressed on a daily basis to make the lives of more well off cultures more comfortable and cushy.

the worst part of it now is that america has managed to make blacks believe so many negative things about themselves that they perpetuate these stereotypes and behaviors throughout the culture by producing music, videos and teach shows that teach blacks how to play into the same negative roles we were given back in slavery days.
