Who do you think did all those jobs before illegals invaded our country? Maybe those jobs didn't exist, or maybe farmers let their produce rot? Your argument is illogical and self serving. The fact of the matter is that employers want these illegals here because they can take advantage of them, and the government who looks out for the interests of the business elite, supports them in this. They try to play Americans for fools by sending troops to the border and suggesting a guest worker program, which is just a way to ensure a permanent source of cheap labor for these greedy employers. Illegals will work for wages that no American will work for, and as a result they take jobs from Americans and drive wages down for everybody else. It's obvious you don't know what you are talking about when you bring up something like doing construction work for $7.50 an hour. Construction work, just so you know, was a good job that paid a lot more than $7.50 an hour and that employed many Americans, until illegals started swarming our country and doing doing construction for **** wages. A lot of Americans lost good paying jobs, and contruction companies increased their profits by grotesque proportions. So don't fool yourself by thinking that illegals are essential. The only reason they are allowed to come and stay is because they increase the profits of the business elite. But this can only go on for so long. At some point, Americans will get so sick of being screwed that these businessmen and their politician buddies who are selling out their counrtry for profits, will have no choice but to stop hiring illegals altogether, and these illegals will have no choice but to go home where they belong.

Yes. All people currently on welfare who are physically able to work should be forced to take those jobs when they come up or have their welfare taken away. That's how it is in Canada where I live! It works here!

at first it will be weird but the wages would go back up and people would be willing to do it you know the illegals are not all out fields picking our lettuce as they would like you to believe . the illegal aliens depress wages for U.S. workers by as much as $200 billion a year in addition to placing a tremendous burden on hospitals, schools and other social services.
Without illegal aliens, the price of agricultural products and other goods and services will NOT soar. The definitive study on this subject is the University of Iowa's "How Much Is That Tomato?" The study concludes that 'since labor is such a small component of the end-price of agricultural products (which includes price to the growers, transportation costs, processing /storage costs, grocers' profit, etc.), using minimum wage workers instead of illegal aliens would increase prices of agricultural products by approximately 3 percent in the summer and 4 percent in the winter ... hardly the making of $10 heads of lettuce, $25 hamburgers, $1,000 per night Days Inn hotel rooms like the pro-illegal alien lobby claims.

The Americans that you're talking about aren't necessarily only used to a/c and typing all day. There are many able bodied people who are unemployed and have never held a desk job. And just because someone works at a desk now, does NOT mean that they have never worked at a manual labor job. Nor does it mean that they wouldn't work at ANY job that they needed in order to provide for their family. Of course all able-bodied people on welfare should be made to work at whatever jobs are available as well; there is no job that is "beneath" someone, only a person who thinks they're too good.

Americans would never do work like that Americans are to used to being in an office chair in a nice air conditioned building while being on the computer immigrants are willing to do these jobs because it's still better than what they had in there home country and they are still earning more money and most aren't used to all of those luxuries like air conditioning or a computer.

People are unemployed for many reasons, many because they are not capable of working, particularly at hard labor jobs.

However, that is why we have the social programs. To care for our poor, knowing it could easily be us our our children, someday.

Americans work all the jobs illegal immigrants do in states with few illegal immigrants. We have major farming states, such as Wisconsin, the home state of the Sponsor for the House Bill. It is the below market wage competition that states like that resent about illegal immigration. When an employer has to pay much less, and can get away with much more because the illegals can't complain, they become his 'good little illegals'. Look how compliant they are when all American workers can talk about is benefits and OSHA violations!

However, our laws are there to protect our workers, and employers should pay a fair wage. Illegal immigration undercuts those protections for our workers.

This has nothing to do with social services for those legally here.

we have our Americans that are in a lot of ways like the illegal mexicans but then also we have our americans that will work there butts off just to make sure there bills are paid and food is on there table. my boyfriend works for 7.00$ an hour and never complains. And he is white and American so yes i think alot of Americans will do the work alot of them just want to live and pay there own ways the Americans that is but as for the Mexicans they needa just go back to there country and leave us alone

Nope, no matter how many job openings that exist, there are some people for which no job is ever good enough. You also have a geographic hurdle in that field jobs are mobile, but some americans are not. There is also an element of the jobs chasing the immigrants. If the labor leaves the jobs may disappear before they can be filled. Then we just be getting our grapes from Mexico.

It has nothing to do with minimum wage. Those are only minimum wage jobs BECAUSE illegal immigrant are willing to work for less. Once the price is sufficiently driven up by the lack of immigrants willing to do the work, then more Americans would be willing to do it.

Also realize that, according to the Pew Hispanic Center, 76% of agricultural workers are American or LEGAL immigrants. Note that that is the highest concentration of illegals of any type of work. In other words, THERE IS NO FIELD OF WORK WHERE 25% OF WORKERS AR ILLEGAL!!! Seems like Americans are already willing to do the work

If those welfare kings and queens, er sorry, If those unemployed Americans were willing to do that sort of work they wouldn't be unemployed. Our public assistance programs are the only explanation for 5% of able bodied Americans being "out of work" while at the same time we have to import 12 million Mexicans to fill our labor shortage.

Nope. But they should. It isn't the unemployment checks that bothers me... that means they worked at one time and are probably BETWEEN jobs.

Welfare, that is a different issue. If you took away their welfare they'd have to work. Granted, some of these people you don't want in the work force because they aren't smart enough to pick strawberries. Those should not be allowed to reproduce. Seriously, we are just paying their way anyway. The more babies they have the more money they get.
