Absolutely agree with him, he is the exact type of immigrant any British person welcomes, hard working and willing to wholeheartedly adopt and celebrate OUR culture and language.
Any immigrant who disagrees does not deserve to be here.
And as for the post office itself disagreeing with him, its just a mark of the pathetic left wing liberal disease that has blighted this country. |

If you are living in England, then i truly believe that you should be able to speak English fluently. |

If one emigrates to another country, you should learn the language. |

If u r comming to england i think u should adopt the culture, and i would do the same to n e country I went to... |

I do agree. This is America and English is a office language here. Since when should we learn other languages and accomodate to other cultures? If someone wants to immigrate here this should be a criterium to stay here :-) |

Haven't you just heard?
He's been forced to leave - - -by a minority of people who did not want to speak English!
Also a Muslim group put pressure on him to leave.
The backlash will come soon. |

I agree with the postmaster. By the way, who gave the "muslim community" the right to call for this mans sacking? In effect they are advocating that it is ok not to learn to speak English or to accept our culture.
Shot themselves in the foot methinks. |

I'm not against immigrants, but if I am sitting in a restaurant awaiting my Rogan Josh I prefer not to hear the waiters speaking Bengali, Urdu, Punjabi or whatever. Frankly, it is rude!
Should I go to a restaurant and order my meal in Irish Gaelic? OK in Sligo and the Gaeltacht, could cause troubles in Dublin, and riots in Belfast!
We have a lot of immigrants and sons and daughters of immigrants who have accepted Britain as their country and good for them and on them. This guy deserves a Knighthood, not the sack. He has done more to expose the political correctness in the UK than anyone else could.
I take off my hat to him (yes, I do wear a hat) and say, at least in a personal capacity, well done,Patriot. |

Yes, he has been sacked from his job and banned from the LibDems (not very liberal or democratic of them.)

This is an outrage! We as a country need to show this man our support. Online petitions, emails, not letters (screw the Post Office) to MPs.
And don't ever vote for Labour who allowed this situation to happen, or LibDem who kicked out a true patriot! |

I speak from experience;
Many Eastern Europeans and Asians place a high value on Respect - I have no issue with this, in fact I wish many British gave the same regard for respect.
To live in someone else's country but not learn the language is about as disrespectful as you can get.
My sister-in-law lives in Spain but doesn't speak the language - I told her that she should be deported for being so disrespectful.
The man is right - it cost him his job because some idiot finds his views offensive - if they do THEY should be deported.
I don't have a problem with anyone coming to the UK so long as they accept our culture - I'm fed up of seeing our laws altered to suit immigrants
p.s. White, British and only speak English |

If you are living in an English speaking country, and will be dealing with them daily in your work, yes, non-English speaking people should not be hired for the job. They have to understand what is being asked of them and able to answer. |

I am in total agreement with Deva he is absolutely right and dare the post offic use their politicaly correctness to say otherwise , This country should have the same policy as Australia inthat all imegrants MUST learn to or be able to speak English or otherwise beat it anyway we should be kicking out 90% at least because it is the responsibility of the first country they land in NOT the UK, WAKEN UP HOME OFFICE or shut down completely because you are totaly USELESS |

yes 100% well done on the man a migrant who stands up to support what we as uk citizens should have done long ago .
if they no wanna speaka de english then dont come here simple .
as for the muslims protesting then if we or they protested in their homeland we would be beheaded . abide by our countries rules or go home .and people of great britain stand up and be counted for once . we have let these migrant workers rape this country by sending money home out of this country for far too long and they are not going to be happy untill britian is a third world country . stand and be proud |

He had to learn the language and the British culture, if we went to their country we would have to try and speak their language and live by their rules so they come to our country they live by our rules. Hubby works with a lot of Asian people and they claim they don't understand english yet they are over here studying at universities and most of them have english degree - they are all acting it they know how to speak english and live by our laws but they will use the racist card if you go against them If it had been a white postmaster who had said that he would have been arrested for racist attack,? Who's country is it - the British people no one else's. |

Yeah i agree english is the law of this land but for all the asians out there CAN YOU REMEBER WHEN YOUR PARENTS CAME?Now you speak a bit of english you think you can run the country or sities lmao!"!:D |

If they are in living and working in an English speaking country, then they learn and speak the English language of those countries.
If they don't like the laws of those countries, or rules of the businesses within the country, then they can go create their own country and do whatever the hell they want. |

Agree with him 100% |

Pauper Prince

I agree with him 100%, but there must be some flexibility, 1) He must serve non-English speaking tourists. (would he be able to distinguish between a resident & tourists) 2) He must serve new immigrants who are still in school and learning English & have difficulty speaking (he should rather help them to learn).
Otherwise .. I agree with 100%. |

It is a stupid thing for him to do. |

Sway

You got that wrong, he actually said he wouldn't serve anyone who couldn't speak English. How we he know if they were an immigrant or a tourist. It could be he couldn't understand someone who was trying to learn English but was getting the vowels wrong. Heavens sake, I listen to people from Ireland and Scotland, or Liverpool & Newcastle and can't understand what they say.
I'm an immigrant in Spain. I am learning the language as I believe I should, but I'm not going to achieve it without the help of the locals, and they appreciate me trying. Learning a language is difficult. Incidentally, most Eastern Europeans here can speak up to 5 languages. The people who are the problem are the Brits, they can only speak one language. |

I think he got sacked today.
I bet the BNP are really confused whether to support him or not. |

Cool Hal

He hasn't been sacked - he has been moved branches as the shop that rents space to the post office complained that they were losing customers as people boycotted the shop thinking it was the same company.
The people who own the shop were absolutely right to do this - why should this mans view, effect their business? If it was my shop and sales were falling I would do the same. I only hope that people realise and they can continue in running a business in what is hard times. It was a pity that Deva Kumarariri didn't think about that before making his ridiculous stance. |
|

Too many wierdos in here.
|
I've read the article, and considering how keen Mr Kumarasiri is on British culture, I find it odd that he's breaking the law by flying the Union Jack on his house.
Instead of going on about people not speaking english, he should do what everyone else does and just say "I don't understand you" |

Totally racist, despite whatever country you live in, you have the right to do whatever you want do. It's a free country and shouldn't be forced to something somebody wants to dictate. That's why we have freedom of speech and freedom of religion, and everybody has the right to do what they free most comfrontable with. If somebody can't understand what someone is saying, then mind our own GD business. |
