hrhthepri... Yes, it was founded by immigrants, but what we are talking about is illegal immigrants. Don't confuse them, illegals just want hand outs.

If anything it has solidified the fact that many Americans are racist and have no problem showing their small minded ignorant views. Perhaps they should change the sign on the Statue of Liberty, you really do not want the tired the poor and the hungry. It is a real shame that some, certainly not all Americans voice their opinion on an international website, then wonder why they are not viewed well on the world stage. It is a real pity, most Americans are thoughtful and intelligent.

I've Learned A Great Deal In This Forum

I Hope Others Have Learned From Me

A good reason Bush does not want to secure the border with Mexico
may be that the administration is trying to create express lanes
for Mexican trucks to bring containers
with cheap Far East goods into the heart of the U.S.,
all without the involvement of any U.S. union workers
on the docks or in the trucks.

Exaggerating? Paranoia? Wow! I thought we were just sharing our frustrations over the FACT our sovereignty and national security are at stake!

Those that downplay this real serious problem are totally unaware .

BTW The message at the Statue of Liberty.....was meant to be seen by those passing thru to Ellis Island for LEGAL entry.

Absolutely, Yes!! Resoundingly Yes! I knew it was a problem before, but my eyes have been much more opened since participating in this forum. And, I agree with your response to JD - I look for his questions and answers because I feel he is the voice of the majority of Americans. He says what others feel but don't know how to express their feelings so adequately.

Thank you for this question!

No. It has made me more aware of how bad the RACISM problem really is.

Law abiding citizen
Trying to teach Mexicans that illegal aliens are ruining this country is like trying to teach Mexicans calculus. Most are simply too dumb to understand it. As a result, their only tactic is to call Americans racists.

I was always aware of ow bad the illegal immigration situation is ... what I wasn't quite so prepared for was the large number of people who actually, unashamedly, defends this massive law breaking ... I'm still trying to come to grips with the reasoning behind it ...

The immigration issue is nothing new nor has it suddenly gotten worse. What we are dealing with is a political smoke screen. Many of the typical rants posted on Answers are fabrications used to whip people up and play on their ignorance. This site has certainly provided a soap-box for those wishing to stir up hatred.

This is not what Bush's new order wants though, they want something like to Bracero program that ran from the early 40's into the 60's. Cheap labor.

Yes. I'm not in America so I don't hear all that much about the illegal problems unless I watch CNN or something like that.

It's better here since you hear what the people think, since it is American citizens that are affected by the illegals.

Europe has it's own problems with illegals. Spain, Italy and Greece are probably the closest countries to Africa so all the Africans try to enter Europe illegally.

You've got Mexicans jumping the borders, we've got Africans crossing the seas.

I have learned a lot of things from this site. Not only about the immigration situation. Politics and religion is another topic that amazes me. But I guess what I've noticed the most is the difference in people.

no but it does remind me a lot about when i was back in highschool. It seems there are cliques on here too,you can always tell who is in wich clique soon enough (took me about 2 weeks to figure it out).most of the time you know that by someone posting a question and giving points to the person who answered their question who's in their clique or saying "hey I like your answers, they are great!" though in reality the answer may not make much sense or is just reflects the sentiments of what the person asked.because you know everyone on here already believes what they want and nothing is going to change their mind.so to simply answer your question no it hasn't.most of the things i read on here are biased and already had read or heard them before.

Legality can change... Immigration can't.

dspyder200
i figured it out awhile ago, but i what wonder is why doesn't the patriotic people that we are exercise are rights and fight back. whether by protesting in dc in mass or in "other" ways. if we did it would probably turn out to be a replay of tenamin square. it is not like they need us when they have the illegals that work for .50 cents a day

yes it has. i am learning more and more every day. i did have the attitude of live and live. felt there was no harm in them being here. but the way they treat and talk to Americans is wrong. they want us to respect them, but they don't respect us. I'm sick of it. i use to think Mexicans from Mexico was respectable. boy have they opened my eyes up. and this sight can be very depressing. knowing are gov does not want to do any thing. if it was up to me. I'd pack up my fire arms and head to Texas. and start practicing on any illegal coming in illegal.

No, living in Cali made me aware of the immigration problem and I am glad that this forum is bringing more awareness to the issue as well. The proposed guest worker amnesty is not a process that would reverse the trend of the growing environment, social and fiscal burden of illegal immigration. The population impact a of mass immigration alone would speed the population to 445 to 462 million in 2050 and the guest worker program would add 38 to 55 million residents. We are just simply accommodating the ability of Mexico and other countries alleviate the pressures of their faster growing population and taking care of their well-being at our own expense.

This forum has helped me see it on a more broader spectrum. Its not just one state, or just southern states...its a nation. And I'm glad to realize this. Good question.

No. I think It's just given people a place that they fell they can say very abusive and horrid things somewhat anonymously about other races.
In a way, I find it humourous -- as though America is the only country that ever had immigrants...and to think America was discovered, founded, and mostly peopled by immigrants!

Mendi8a
no, i feel that people are exaggerating the issue and making people paranoid about it.
