You are here illegally. Picture this-someone comes to your home and sets up a tent in your backyard without your permission, and refuses to leave and points out they are not hurting anything. Does that make it ok? If your parents are paying taxes they must be working under a fake number so they are committing fraud too. It's not a personal thing, and it doesn't mean everyone hates you, but don't expect a warm response either.

I don't hate you at all, but if you are here illegally, yes, you do need to go back to your home country. It is a shame, but that is why there are rules. If you get A's that means you are smart & can be smart anywhere, you obviously speak at least 2 languages...don't be a victim. Yes. You and your family know how to become citizens and yet you choose not to. That is an insult to every person who came here legally and did the work to become citizens. It is an insult to me, because I pay taxes for you to go to school and you don't even have the decency to become legal. If your parents don't have an SS number, they don't pay taxes, meaning you are taking advantage of my public works without appreciation for them or the people paying for them.

I am not American, I am a Brazilian living in Brazil. You say that in Brazil you'd probably be in the streets right now... That makes me ask... you say you entered in the US with a visa, if the US embassy gave you a Visa it means that you weren't at the street, they don't give a visa to anyone who wants. Also, if you were in the street, how did you managed to pay plane tickets for three (at least)? Or did you went by foot all the way to the US? The reason you were unsuccessful in Brazil is not Brazil guilty's, probably your family never took studing seriously, like 90% of poor Brazilians.

The US is the last country I'd live in the world, but if you have made this option, stop complaing about your adorable (United States of) "America" that you love so much.

But of course, since there are some 15 million people in a similar situation there is no other option for the government than to start to legalize. To postpone this decision indefinetly is useless.

We don't have many immigrants here in Brazil. Usually nothing happens with the few illegal that exist here because there is almost no control over immigration here. But in case complaints are received, you're deported. Just like your country, it isn't much different.

Statements and questions like yours paint an overly grim picture of the world outside the U.S. I hear only two arguments: 1) The U.S. is so Great and all the people in other countries are dead or dying... and 2) The U.S. is racist and cruel because they won't take everything they have and just share it with a world that is TWENTY TIMES as POPULATED.

Notice that that those countries who've maintained the LOWEST birthrates and highest education levels for a few decades went from POOR to having advanced economies, medicine, infrastructure, etc.

Notice, too, that nations with exorbitant birthrates and lower education levels - even if they were wealthy 30 years ago - are now POOR.

Well, if you are doing better here than you would have in Brazil, then I don't mind you staying. Sometimes you have to go against the rules. Especially when it comes to your family. That doesn't make you criminals. Your family is doing what is best for you right now. Nothing wrong with that. If you were in Brazil you would be homeless. I would rather you be here and have a place to call home. Some people only think about themselves and use the law as an excuse for their racism. If they were in the same position, they would do the same thing as your family. Live well and prosper!

I hope soon, legislation will be passed that allows you, your family and others like you to become legal. People don't seem to understand you are illegal not because you want to, but because there isn't a way for you to become legal at the moment.

P.S. Illegal immigrants can pay taxes by applying for ITIN number. My sister is a foreign investor living outside the US and that's how she does it. ITIN's are given to anyone who asks for them.

Unfortunately, there ar emany people here who like to sit in judgement of illegals without regard to the situations they come from. They dont care that many come from abject poverty with no way to feed themselves or their children. Is it wrong to want somehting better for your children, like the right to not DIE from malnutrition, starvation, disease, genocide, war, etc? No it's not wrong.

It sounds like your family tried to to it the right way, but their visas expired before they could finish the job. At least your family did that much. I commend your family for working hard, not being criminals, and attending school.

Many people in America have forgotten that the INALIENABLE rights that our forefathers spoke of, the rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, and that ALL men were created equal doesn't just apply to Americans. If it did that would mean that we were the only ones in the world who deserved the right to LIFE. Many, not well thought out, uninformed americans continue on this line of reasoning. Many have never been long term in abject poverty, in killing feilds, homeless with small children to feed, and mass injustice around every corner, if they had they would NOT think the way they do about people who come here illegally.

The FACT is that most illegals are not criminals, ALL people deserve the RIGHT to LIFE, LIBERTY, and happiness. I do not have any problem with you as long as you continue to work hard, and not become dangerous criminals. It is also a fact that you coming here as a child should not be condemned for the faults of your parents. This country wanted freedom from England b/c that was just one of the many things they did to people; that is they punished children and relatives for another persons sins.

Keep trying to become LEGAL, don't give up.
