Do you need a visa to enter australia if you have a U.S. passport?

My dad wants to go to australia on vacation but im not exactly sure if you need a visa or not so can someone help me.

Yes you do. We were in Australia last year and needed a visa, which we obtained from (through) our cruise ship. I'm sure if you go to Australia.com you'll get your answer from a true source.

You require travel authority which you can apply online on

This authority is called ETA. It allows you to stay in Australia for 1 year. However, you can only stay for 3 months at a stretch. After that you have to exit the country and then can come back. You may want to travel New Zealand at that time.

Everyone needs a visa to visit Australia, but if he only wants to go for up to 3 months, he can get an ETA online in a few minutes.
