I totally agree with you. 2 and 3 generations ago, the people worked hard as my parents did when they came here. They worked for minimum wage and scraped enough to put a down pmt on a house. They had 6 kids here and we all have professional jobs. That's because they taught us that education was the only way to get ahead. Believe me we had some hard times growing up, no x-mas tree one year or Thanksgiving without a turkey and thats because there wasn't enough money. My parents never had their hand out for govt assistance, we just did without and we knew that they tried their hardest to give us a good life, and they did by giving us great examples, paying the bills, going to work everyday etc..
To Mexicans are the best--No doubt you will end up pregnant and on welfare very soon. You need to check yourself before you wreck yourself. |

I must say, your post was certainly an honest one. And I agree, they are not like the generations before. They at least attempted to immigrate here legally, and do things the right way. And I admire them, because they certainly endured hardships. But they earned their rights as citizens, and they came here, worked and prospered. They didn't come here, demanding taxpayer funded assistance without ever putting a dime into the system, and protesting this nation at their rallies while holding up foreign flags. That's just not how to do it.
I think in many cases, immigrants are abused and mistreated, and that is equally wrong. And I think anyone who does so, needs to be in jail.
But on the other hand......if you want to live here, you need to do it legally, and wait your turn, just like the ancestors did.
Thanks for your honest post. |

i agree with you for the most part (if you are talking about illegal immigrants). Key word being ILLEGAL. I don't get why people think it is ok to support breaking the law. They are criminals, yet they want the same rights...if not more than LEGAL citizens. They are the only criminals i know of who think it is ok to protest when they don't get their way. They need to go through what our ancestors went through, which was much harder than what they have to do today. |

you do have a valid point, but for only illegal immigrants |

I assume you are talking to people from Mexico, right? If so, I agree with you. Thank you for recognizing it. If you are coming here to make money, or have a better life in general, start waving an American flag, learn english, and become a LEGAL citizen! |

The hispanics really pissed me off during their last pro immigration rally. They held their mexican flags high, while dragging the US flag behind them in the dirt! Yea, that's a real good way to get the people of the US to accept them.... They may as well have just sh*t on our doorsteps. |

Illegal mexican immigrants moved into the dallas area and drove the payfor painting new houses down from $1.50 per sqare foot in the early 80's to $0.75 per sqare foot now. Even though they are still here illegally, they now complain that the immigrants from El Salvador are coming in and under cutting their prices and taking all of their painting jobs away from them.
I think it is all just hilarious right up until I see them marching down my street (that I busted my *** helping to build) waving a mexico flag and saying that they built all of our cities.
It is obvious that their are some leaders in the latino community who are getting very rich off of illegal immigrants and they are trying to use misinformation to pump them up and make them push for legalization. Maybe some of those previous generations of immigrants should speak out and explain that there were far more americans doing the building in this country when most of our cities were built. Maybe someone needs to teach them some respect. |

How do you know that they are the worst in history. am I supposed to believe it because it came out of your mouth. You do not have the slightest idea about immigration 60 years ago, or those murdering immigrant fore fathers that exterminated 9,750,000 Native Americans or are you talking about those good immigrants that enslaved Africans and brought them here in chains against their will to built the South off the backs of slave labor. You are right we must be the worst because we did not do as yours did. Some of you that claim ,are not Latina you are one of the Assimilated ones. |

its because 2 or 3 generations before other persons (from other countries) were immigrating , so U can't compare them to the ones that U see today.
I immigrated from Romania to Italy and I haven't done any of those things. How about that ? |

back than those immigrants spent 16 hours working in factories not knowing what goes around this country. they had few labor rights and didn't have voice because their employers had all the power. but you know what, the world changes. now people demand respect and to have their rights protected. |

I agree with Daniel F.
Besides, if they came here and worked just as hard but without standing up for their rights and demanding respect as human beings, you people wouldn't be screaming for them to leave. You would just turn your head and think how lucky you were to have dumb people like that who don't argue with demands of hard labor and don't seek to better themselves as human beings. |

Another "question" that is actually a statement. I don't agree with illegal immigration but bagging on them constantly is RIDICULOUS. Everyone that lives in America lives here because of immigration, the only people who are the real Americans are Native Americans. And no, I am not native american myself- my family immigrated to America like everyone else's did. |

Hispanics are the fastest growing minority group in the U.S. and are projected to contribute two-thirds to the growth in the size of the high-school-age population over the next decade (U.S. Dept. of Education).
Latinos (35 million strong) have increased their presence in the U.S. population by 58% over the last 10 years, and recently surpassed African Americans as the largest ethnic minority (2000 U.S. Census,). While non-white Hispanic population grew by 3%.
I would say Latinos are the LARGEST minority. |

Are you kidding me? You are a racist. I'm not an immigrant - just a white guy from seattle. But my god - get some compassion. Just because one of them took your low level job don't take your hatred out on them. |
