Do you really believe mexican immigrants are a menace to the US?
|
Additional Details I lived in the US for almost 4 years. I worked as a waitress for almost two, paying taxes and all, I might be one of many that just wanted a better life. I wanted to go to school and finish my bachelor's degree, I didn't even have to take English, because mine was so good! I did my best in all I did... I know not one, but hundreds of mexicans and "latin american people" like me. Just trying to be better. We are not a menace, I think... and I'm sure.
We DO take jobs sometimes that are so bad payed nobody else would take. Knowing we can't have a medical inssurance or beneffits. I would like you to know that most of us just want to get out of a country that is killing us slowly. As young people, we don't have any opportunities even with a degree. We are amazed that a country like the US, made by nothing but immigrants, have so much progress. We don't want to take advantage, we want to be part of it! And like any other place in the world, there is always "the bad guys", but not everybody!

I think I have already answered this somewhere before. I would like to know where Dixierock got this report from. I can't find a source, official or unofficial. Looks like it just "blogged up" from nowhere. I have questions with some of the individual numbers and believe that using bad data harms the credibility of a righteous issue. If you know where this originates let me know. |

No... at least they want to make a better living... though if they are here... they should learn to speak the language. I shouldn't have to call a number and be asked to press "1" for english or "2" for spanish. lol |

I think ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS are. It is not about race with me. Anyone here illegally should be sent back to their countries... |

I believe they are a financial burden on the US.
Suppose you ask the "Mexican Citizens" of the US this question. "Will you foot the bill (reimburse the city, state and federal government) for any and all costs imposed on those institutions by allowing mexican immigrants into this country?" Because that is what the rest of us are doing. |

No, not mexican Immigrants that are here legally. ILLEGAL immigrants are the menace to the country. Especially since a lot of the illegal immigrants cause Legal immigrants a lot of trouble because people become anti-immigrant altogether. Illegals steal identies and cause American lots of trouble.. It has nothing to do which country you are from, it's all about legal or illegal |

Illegal Mexicans are menaces to the US. According to Webster's dictionary, a menace is a threat to society or a troublesome person. By definition, illegal Mexicans are menaces. |

Mexican immigrants aren't any problem at all...in fact we call them Americans. Although, it does disturb me that some of them still want to call themselves Mexican-Americans, but they are still Americans.
ILLEGAL, law breaking, border crossing Mexicans are the menace. They put extra burden on emergency rooms, health care, taxes of citizens, cause our insurance rates to go up, cause spending for bi-lingual teachers and documents, etc, etc, etc. Need I go on? They take jobs illegally and so companies are like vultures and pay them lower wages and don't pay income taxes on them. Many of those industries would have to modernize and join the 21st century if they lost their supply of low wage illegal workers. Then there are those that steal identities and social security numbers so they can work "legally" under the stolen SSN. Their whole existence here becomes lie upon lie and crime upon crime.
Simply put.....YES they are a menace to society just like any other criminal.
Sarcastic comparison: Are drug dealers a menace? They don't force drugs on anyone and only sell to people looking for drugs, right? |

I think this immigration thing is only to have the American citizens minds out of Iraq and war... |

No. Not the legal immigrants. And the illegal ones are not a menace. Just a drain to our social security and welfare system. Plus they are a slap in the face to the many legal immigrants. Simply put, they don't respect the law and, therefore, are outlaws. They are welcome here if the obey the laws and immigrate legally. |

I think any one can be a menace. The only problem I have with Mexicans is the illegals that are taking jobs away from Americans who really need them. |

Mexicans, as in "legal immigrants" or American citizens from Mexico are not - however, illegal immigrants from Mexico and all other countries are a drain and a menace to the society and economy of the USA. Yes, this is a fact!
laxr 5 - those illegal immigrants wouldn't be willing to do those jobs for so little if they had to do them with legal paycheques, paying legal taxes and deductions off their pay that legal citizens have coming off their pay - then, the illegals wouldn't be able to afford to do those jobs for so little, now would they? Duh! Think about it! We could all work for less if we could all do it under the table, couldn't we? It is the taxes off our paycheques that pay for all the social systems that we so generously maintain in this country! As well, these people are willing to live in such squalid conditions, by that I mean when they live 10 or more to a home meant for only 2 to 4 people, so they pay almost nothing to live and then, even if they only send home $100 or $200 per month, that is a helluva lot of pesos or limperas in Mexico or Central America. They wouldn't be able to do that if they had to work over-the-table and pay the taxes and deductions that we have to pay and if laws were enforced to not allow them to live so many in a dwelling (by the way, there are usually municipal laws that limit the number of people in different types of dwellings, too, because of things like garbage removal, sewage, property taxes, fire hazard, etc. and these laws should be enforced, also).
Also, when these people work for $5/hr. or less, obviously they can't afford things like car insurance and so they are a menace when they drive without insurance and get involved in accidents. This causes real distress and injury and costs to the people they are in the accidents with. Then, of course, they can't afford medical insurance so they are a burden to the hospital ERs when they go there as indigents for every scratch and cold they have, without paying for the service. Then, they bring their families on up, as well, and enroll their children in the schools that they don't pay the taxes for. The list goes on and on. Yes, "illegal" immigrants from all countries are a menace to the USA! |

Illegal Mexicans and illegal ANYBODY is of course a menace ... it is blatantly unfair that an invasion of illegals should get off scot free when it comes to identity fraud, welfare fraud, etc., etc. And if we don't follow the immigration laws that we have, why should we follow ANY law? If we give amnesty to illegals, why doesn't the Government give amnesty to tax dodgers ...pot smokers ... people with speeding tickets ... hell, the list is endless ... we'll of course end up with anarchy, but that seems to be what people want ... |

I do not care where they are from, if they break the law to come here, they are criminals and a menace to this country and our way of life.
If the law means nothing, we have anarchy. |

I believe illegal immigration is a serious menace to the US. It doesn't matter if it is Mexicans, although their children not being English speaking when they enter school is part of the burden.
Our middle and higher classes subsidize education and health care even for the poor here who pay all applicable taxes. That is why our laws, like most countries laws (including Mexico's) limit immigration of poor immigrants. In fact, our laws are more liberal than Mexico's on this point.
Because we subsidize services for the poor, it is a good deal for those who can come, and the line is long.
Illegal immigration in an insignificant scale might have been an insignificant impact. However, 12 to 20 million poor people requiring subsidized education and health care for their family is destroying those services for our people in areas where illegal immigrants concentrate. This destroys upward mobility through education for our children, and exacerbates the divide between rich and poor in this country. The rich, of course, send their children to private schools and tend to benefit through businesses employing cheap labor provided by the illegal immigrants.
We don't want our children to have a poor education in order to educate the children of people illegally here. We don't want to become a thin upper crust with a huge, poorly educated lower class.
I consider that a menace. |

Not at all. They don't take that many jobs away from people, and overall they do so much hard work. We should thank them. There is the issue that its not fair that they don't get taxed, and if you think about it, the government wouldn't get much $anyways because they do jobs for so little. |
