A 36-year-old illegal immigrant who worked in Plymouth under an Ohio man's name since 2000 has been sentenced to 90 days in jail.
Zoilo Herrera-Juarez, who will be deported after serving his sentence, used the name Anthony Velazquez to work at BPB America and rack up thousands of dollars in debt. He was arrested in January and has since been convicted of felony identity theft for financial gain.
Herrera-Juarez, of 2501-A Camelot Blvd., was sentenced Monday by Judge James Bolgert.
He was found out when the IRS notified the real Anthony Velazquez that he had not paid income taxes for money earned at BPB, a criminal complaint said. Velazquez, who never worked for the company, later checked his credit report and discovered $81,000 in debt for credit he never obtained.
Herrera-Juarez was also charged with 10 counts of obstructing an officer for allegedly providing false names to Sheboygan police during traffic stops dating back to 2001, but those charges were dismissed by prosecutors.http://www.sheboyganpress.com/article/20090404/SHE0101/904040452/1973/SHE0204

Yes, the illegal got off easy. In fact, why was he in the country since 2000? Where was Homeland Security and George Bush in all this? I thought our borders were supposedly secured after 9/11/01? Wasn't that what the wiretapping, torture, and rendition was about? To keep us safe?
This is economic terror and I think Americans would like to be protected from that but too many powerful people make a lot of money from illegals and ID theft. |

This is a very common crime. To answer your question, 90 days is not long enough. IMHO 7 to 10 years in prison would be appropriate.
If an American citizen went into a gas station, with his finger in his pocket, and said "stick 'em up" and took $100 from the cash register that person would get 10 years in the state penitentiary. |

Actually he got more punishment than 99% of the illegal criminals in the US.Heck if he had murdered 7 or more people all he would have to do is go back to Mexico and not serve any time at all.FACT!!! |
