I think this would solve the illegal immigration problem: a 20 foot high unbroken wall from the Pacific to the Gulf of Mexico. Minefields, barbed wire, roving helicopters, and every 20 feet on the wall is a machine gun bunker manned by border patrol agents who are promoted based on confirmed kills.
Now, if people want to come into the U.S. legally, that's perfectly all right. Welcome! Come on in! Just don't sneak in!
PS: Anyone thumbs-downing me, do a little research and see what Mexico does to people that sneak across THEIR southern border. It's not pretty. |

Not until the government stops giving free health care, and welfare, driver license, and making babies born in the USA citizens. Plus now obama want to give illegals union jobs, so they will vote for demorats. |

No, lets have the mexicans build a wall across the boarder with a door, then tell them to go paint the other side and lock the door. |

NO! Securing our borders and enforcing our immigration laws will help. Plus, heavily fine/jail anyone that employees illegals! "comprehensive reform" is another word for amnesty for all the illegal criminals here now. Rewarding them shows our children that some criminals get put in jail, others get what they want and are rewarded. |

NO! It will only encourage more to come illegally and wait/expect their turn, all the while continuing to rob us blind! |

No Comprehensive Immigration Reform has never worked any where in the world. No matter how many reforms there are, it will never be enough and the same calls for reforms now will again emerge until the end of time.Does anybody really think illegals in Mexico who miss out on any reform are going to remain home ? Once reform is even given the former illegals will be replaced by other illegals who will be more docile and will not complain and the cycle starts again |

legal doesn't make it right.
 |
No, it's only going to make it worse. Let's actually guard our borders and start shooting everyone that illegally comes across it and we'll stop getting so many illegals. |

All the federal government has to do is enforce the current immigration laws, as stated in US Code 8. At the same time force the state, county, and local governments to enforce these laws as well because it is in their jurisdiction to do so. They also have to punish government officials, big and small businesses, and any special interest group that is supporting illegal immigration. |

NO, I think it is only going to make the problem worse, If they really wanted to fix the problem, we would put our solders on the border, while putting up a dual wall across the whole border, then and only then could we discuss comprehensive immigration reform. Otherwise amnesty will end up the same way, it did now from 1986 when Reagan gave amnesty. If our government wants our trust shut the border down, then and only then can we discuss, what to do with the illegals here. |

Will if Obama makes them legal then they wouldn't be legal now will they.I think its a slap in american tax payers face that he would even think that we should do this.No do us all a favor and deport them. That's the only Reform I want. |

No. Illegal immigration problems, and legal ones for that matter, will only be resolved when global, human reproduction and resource consumption rates are sent into a sharp, sustained decline, everyone around the world lives similar lifestyles with similar poverty and infant mortality rates and labor laws, and when immigration becomes a matter of personal preference rather than an escape from crushing poverty or violence. Edit: I just read the other answers. All those "Put up a wall. Shoot 'em. Deport them." answers...all those thumbs up. I really have to die and pick a new species. Banana slug would be a step up. |

It didn't work in 1.986 and it will not work now. Once the illegal aliens get legalized, the greedy employers will be looking again for cheap labor, and here we go again! |

No. Because the bill writers/law makers always include some backdoor policy. Won't close all the loopholes like the being in the country 5 years or more without being detected. |

NO! and it's not intended to do so!. If you read up on it, and do a little what's called "research".....you will know that CIR is planned so our economy doesn't lose any more consumers, and our labor workforce doesn't lose any more hard working people. It's not a plan to stop it! it's a plan to help out the US by bringing these people out of the shadows. It's bad enough that we have felt the blow by scaring them into their homes because they are spending way way less now. So this will bring them back out and give our economy a JUMP START!....the same jump start that many US companies and especially farms will feel to.
STAND UP FOR AMNESTY! our economy needs a jump start! |
