Do you think a wall on the border is really going to work to stop illegal immigration?

Close the borders??????? OK, that means nobody travels north or south? We can't visit Cancun and they can't come to Disney World? No more selling our excess beef and corn to Mexico? They can't get the Levi's, Nike's and Volkswagons that they manufacture to the buyers here. Ummmmm, how does that help, again? It keeps people from coming and going legally, the illegals don't use the border ports much.

Not totally but it will help. Mexico needs to start taking care of her own in my opinion. I think our leadership is considering all options and doing the best thing. I consider myself high on insight and awareness. I talked to a Federal official not all that long ago and noticed every scenario I dished out he/they related is/has been thought about. They really are on the ball... I think it's good to talk about and exchange ideas on these things...

I think it would drmatically reduce the influx of illegals to were we can manage it. I love the geniuses that say don't build it because it won't stop illegal we can use that logic in everything here is one, don't arrest or stop DUI drivers they are going to drink anyway.

Walls won't stop it. We are still a free country. Walls will serve to also imprison us. If they want in, find a way to make them at least sign the guest book.

They never have said the fence will stop it. But just open borders will not work either. The fence along with enforcement of all immigration laws is what we need.

IF they build that fence think of how many illegals already here it will employ to build it and then to repair it after other illegal cut it to come across. They will have a full time job.

This is not a racist comment, it's just the facts.
We have our jobs and other things taken {welfare, social security etc} because of this problem.

He asked about a wall which isn't a bad idea.... I'm sorry but I don't see any idea's from the rest of you so don't even comment on it...... A good example is the wall that Isreal built..... That right there would cost 10 billion dollars to cover the mexico border.

Mexico of course will be mad about it and probably state something way out there that makes us look bad. The reason is probably because they have less US dollars to tax from the illegals.

Nothing is going to STOP illegal immigration. A wall might slow it down or more likely, it will ensure that more people will die trying in the Arizona desert. As long as the US is seen as a place where more money can be earned than in the person's home country, illegal immigration will be an issue.

Why close off the borders? how are americans visitors come back to the United States when they visit Mexico if the borders are going to be closed? I would say just build the fence, but not close off the borders. Well that's my opinion

Nothing will stop illegal immigration.

We can combat the problem, not eliminate it. The border is not the only way to get in. Visas expire and people stay.

the only way you can slow (cant be stopped completely) illegal immigration is to eliminate the reason they come here. You cannot stop anyone from entering the country. Its impossible.

However, Israel's wall is not such a bad idea, since number of terrorist acts dropped significantly.
