Well the fact that they are "illegal" immigrants already points to yes. |

Being illegal is already a crime, so this is redundant. |

Some do, but many others come to the US and take advantage of the system by getting into many illegal activites. |

Being here illegally already is a criminal activity.
As for committing other crimes, they are probably less likely.
If you rock the boat you get sent home or jailed.. |

"illegal" aliens will be more likely to commit crime, they already did by being illegal |
|

Well of course. It's obvious that they have absolutely no respect for the law, or anything else for that matter. |

Of curse not, I went to see new homes last weekend and I only saw Hispanic people working in construction. I asked some of the developers why was that. their response was "Hispanics work harder and they focus on getting the job done whites complaint too much and usually do not come to work on Monday"
This was a white developer. |

DUH since they came here ILLEGALLY it makes them a criminal! Of course they take from our country!!! How many of them do you see in Iraq??? |
|

Mr.Wise

Depends on their purpose for coming here, but statistics show as a whole they have a high crime rate. |

No I don't but I do think it's made to look that way by the media. I guess it takes away from the evil that is our own home grown |

Just by definition "illegal" alien - they are breaking the law by being here! So I believe that they would not hesitate to break any other laws in the US |
|

The stats show that most are. They are involved in criminal activity if they are in the country illegally. It is a law and they are breaking it. That is not to say that all do though. Some give to the country but a lot take from it. |

Where I live the biggest crimes are commited by Hispanic gangs. I don't know if they're legal or illegal, but most all the names in the crime section of the newspaper are Hispanic. |

There is a HUGE difference between your question and the statement following...
Do I think illegal aliens are more likely to be involved in criminal activity? Well, by definition they ARE ALREADY criminals, thus my answer is definitively YES. Regardless of what they do and "contribute" to society, they are inherently criminals.
Do I think immigrants who come to the US today join society and give to the country...? Yes, in general, I think those immigrants who go through the process LEGALLY DO contribute to society. What is the point of coming here to NOT contribute?
You need to get your questions/opinions straight before asking such a question. |

Other than the illegal action of coming here, no. The whole point in coming here is to make their lives better. 1. Crime would not exactly go along with that goal, 2. The possible loss is far greater.
It's tough to say how much they give to the country over what they may take away in jobs. I believe there are some contributions and some detractions. |

I think most legal immigrants join into American society and contribute much to this country.
The illegal by his illegality alone
cant or wont do the same. |

Other than the fact that they are breaking the law just by being here, no.
To the second part- all the legal immigrants I have ever known worked hard and became contributing members of society. I would say they all gave back at least, if not more, than they took. |

So it's ok to commit a crime if your born here right?! Can we talk about some thing other than illegals for a change? Like how about we keep our own brothers and sisters out of jail for a change, make sure they have food to eat and a place to live. People all over the world come to America for a better life, to join society. What if your great great grandparents would have come here from France long ago and that's how your mother/father would have become a citizen of the US to join society would it be the same? Or would they be illegal immigrants too that took advantage? |

There was a great article in the L.A. Times reciently that I posted a few times but can't seem to find it now. But the statistics were pretty sobering as to how high the precentage of illigal alians who are in prison for felonies. Also there was a study done by a college prof. that showed a 70 billion dollar a year negative average for illigal alians. So I guess that proves the latter of your question is true. Not that there arn't a lot of great legal immigrants here. It's the illigal ones that are hurting us. We just can't afford them. |

Considering the fact that they are illegal aliens, it would seem that they are already, by definition, involved in criminal activity. |
