I think some illegals are illegal because they hate America, but they are not thinking it through because they are IN America. I do think, however, that if given the chance, most illegals would happily embrace American citizenship, and do not hate America.

Well maybe not all of them but what ive seen on tv is ppl protesting with mexican flags...ppl burning the american flag and singing our national song in a different language as well as changing the words...sounds to me like those ppl dont want to be AMERICAN.

Of course they are illegal by choice. They chose to break the law and enter this country illegally. They chose to stay in this country illegally. They should do some jail time before deportation. Doesn't matter whether or not they love or hate this country have no right to be here. And they need to be sent back pronto.

Yes I DO think they are illegal by choice...they CHOSE to break the law, they CHOSE to swim, dig, or whatever else to get here illegally, and they CHOSE to spit in the faces of all immigrants who came here the LEGAL way, like my ancestors had to. You can act high and mighty all you want, but if you came here ILLEGALLY the you are a CRIMINAL, PERIOD. I don't care how well educated you are. If you are as smart as you claim, then why couldn't you come here the legal way?

Illegals are not illegal because they want to. Not everybody hates America. Most illegals just come here for work and I'm sure if they had a chance to become legal they would take it.

Most immigrants would happily accept the opportunity to become legal residents if the opportunity were presented to them. However, every year there are millions of legal immigrants who complete the paperwork to get permission for entry into America. The process is long and expensive, and fewer than half of them are accepted.

Unfortunately, the low acceptance rate is mostly because of the large number who enter America illegally; while the number who enter illegally increase due to low acceptance rate. It's a Catch-22 where no one wins, and each side causes the other to become worse. One major problem with illegal immigration is that while a large number are allowed to enter America legally, many of those are temporary Visas -- but then a large percentage of those people take advantage of the situation and overstay their Visa, becoming illegal immigrants.

Given the difficulty of obtaining a legal entry, too many people decide not to try. There are illegal markets for many things in the world, and an illegal (expensive) market for bringing people into America without proper paperwork is profitable for the wrong kind of people. Those people who have money but a questionable background often use that black market. The people who do not try to gain legal entry believe they have no chance of gaining that right; but those who just don't have the money usually give up without recourse to criminal acts.

Most people that I have met -- from many countries -- are of the impression that America is like a paradise. With only a few exceptions they would be delighted at the chance to permanently immigrate to America legally. However, there is a limit to how many people can be supported by the resources and land in that country, and therefore the government attempts to limit the numbers of people who are using those resources.
