Do you think it is unfair to expect immigrants to feel British if we Brits always feel the need to refer?

I don't think we expect them to 'feel' British. Just to obey the laws of the land. And that of course applies to everyone including Brits.

The racists here always bang on about following our traditions and culture, but this is meaningless. What are our traditions? We don't all eat roast beef, or go to church, or go to the pub, or have family lunch on Sunday.

And the immigrants I know all speak good English! And they're not rude or offensive. I wish more Brits, especially those in this thread, were more like this!

Many of these people, especially Polish migrants, don't want to feel British, they are here to make money, end of story, and intend to return home again. They have not come here to stay or to become British (except for a few).

Its not the immigrants that was born in this country that we are worried about, it it the thousands that are coming over there every day that's we are worried about.

We don't want them to feel English and especially not Scottish. We want them to feel their way back were they came from and get a job there not sponge off of us Scots or the English

Welcome to the world of immigrants wanting to take your money, your jobs, your heritage and wiping their Bu** with it. they do not want to assimilate. I do not understand why they do not stay in their own country and fight for their rights there.

If your not British and you have come here from another country then you are not British, never were and never will be. Its not unfair, if I moved to America or Canada I wouldn't expect to be called American or Canadian, because im not.

They cannot be expected to feel British because they were not born British. People born abroad from foreign parents are bound to be foreigners and to remain so. Acquiring British nationality would still not remove the fact that their roots are from elsewhere.

Its a fact of life. races will always feel more comfortable with their own culture and national identity.

Ask most immigrants how they would refer to themselves and the vast majority will say Polish, Asian, German whatever. I know Scots Welsh and Irish people who have lived in England for donkeys years and still refer to themselves as Scots, Welsh etc, then British only when pressed for an answer, and these are our fellow countrymen! We are who we perceive ourselves to be, as the saying goes....You can take the man out of the country but you cannot take the country out of the man. Let us all stop being so sensitive about this, by making it an issue it becomes one, exactly what PC was designed to do..... Create division, not promote harmony and fairness as we are falsely being led to believe.

The question that you need to ask yourself is much simpler my friend. Does the average immigrant want to be British?
Just because a mouse lives in a stable, it doesn't make it a horse!! The truth of the matter is, whether we like it or not, is they probably don't. There is nothing wrong with that, and I'm not saying there is, but we live in a multi-cultural society rather than a multi-racial one. And it seems to me that is exactly how(well most of them anyway) the immigrants want to keep it! It's just my opinion of course, and before anybody starts accusing me of being bigoted or racist, I certainly am not!

i couldnt agree with you more. i dont have any problems with immigrants at all ,exept for the fools that come here 'supposedly to escape tyrany' and imediately start the same cave dweller garbage that drove them out!!..... in my country!!....the country that sheltered them in the first place. .....those!! i want driven out of my country, they are hate fuelled dangerouse violent morons. i will give my vote to who ever wants them removed.

Mainly when we see a person who looks like a immigrant the first thing that comes into are head is that they are not from here even if you do hide it away and if they dont like that they should be better off living in there own country. no affence like.
