When right now in Iraq there are hundreds of non U.S citizens who enlisted in the military to fight and die for the privilege of becoming a U.S citizen. Does giving the citizenship away for free to illegals seem fair to them?

Illegal immigrants who love America should go home and come back legally. Those who hate America should just go home.
Resident aliens who have enlisted to fight for this country DESERVE the citizenship that was promised them at the conclusion of their service to this country. |

No way! It is not fair to those people who have been waiting for their papers to come through. As far as the babies of 2 illegal parents is concerned. I don't believe that child should automatically be a "citizen". These women wait until their water is about to break, sneak over the border, call am ambulance (which WE pay for), get medical care (which WE pay for), have the baby then if we are lucky she will take the baby back to Mexico. However, bear in mind that b/c the baby was born in the USA, the mother now applies for welfare, food stamps, etc to care for this "citizen". Our government sends welfare checks to Mexico! Now, how do you all feel about that? |

No, because of the reasons you've stated. In addition, there are plenty of people that work hard to legally immigrate to the US...(in my opinion) granting the illegals citizenship seems like a big slap in the face to those that have respected our laws. Entering our country is the first thing they do...doing it illegally isn't a very good first impression! |

Of course not. They are not and should not be entitled to anything. I have great respect for those courageous men and women in Iraq -- my heart goes to them, and if they are arleady not citizens, then I hope they are granted citizenship asap! However, ILLEGAL Immigration/Criminal is a different story. They should be punished for their wrongful acts.
To answer your question, it is NOT fair for those waiting for years to come here, and certaintly not fair for those fighting in Iraq. |

My wife and her family had to take the legal way in to the US. I guess if they came in illegally they could have saved a couple thousand dollars a piece. The people that sacrificed so much to come here legally aren't too happy about the free ticket. |
