I think it's 75% race and 25% legal status that most people oppose. I've read the comments on here and almost 80% of them were race oriented. There are so many people who stereotype. It's insane.

If a Mexican asks a question most people tell them to stay out of the country, or tell them to leave.

If someone from England asks about immigration most people are more than eager to help them.

Pretty simple. We can't take in everyone in the world that wants to come here and use our schools, hospitals, etc. This is not a race issue. It is just a fact that we have to limit how many people can live here.

I think the loss of jobs, houseing concerns, and resource demands are the most pressing concerns causing issue with the immigration. I highly doubt the color of the illegals skin is the big kicker.

No , its because the IllEGAL IMMIGRANTS exploit the United States for money and jobs. They are NOT citizens and take jobs away from LEGAL citizens. This country's economy is already mucked up and Illegal immigrants make it worse not better. They are not registered for Selective Service. When a draft is called they do not have to as does EVERY MALE CITIZEN has to serve in the army. If Illegal immigrants want equal rights then they should get equal rights, they should serve too.

I think it's partly race, but mostly they are taking American's jobs, at least the jobs that aren't already in Mexico or China or other low wage countries. And also, a lot of Americans believe they don't want to be "Americans" but just want American jobs and American benefits.

Yes, it certainly is about race, not about taxes or jobs. We are going to pay the same tax or higher, and Congress is going to waste the money, like it always does. Jobs are sent out of the USA, which is why they are so hard to find, not because Mexicans have them. I know this is not a popular answer, but this is how I feel .

I think a lot of people are racist about it. But I also think a lot of people are concerned about immigrants that don't pay taxes mooching off our public funds for school and healthcare. It's not a black and white situation.

No, I think they are against it because they daily see the effect of it on their children's schools and on health care and by reading about the economic state of the services we pay for for our own poor.

In fact, I think those who try to pin this as a race issue due to the fact that some small number of racists may also be against illegal immigration are trying to create a smoke screen to make this a politically unacceptable topic. However, the impact is far too great, and provable, for that to work at this point.

No - not at all. It is a major drain on our social services, medical attention and educational requirements. Gangs and violent crime are on the rise. These people are not adjusting to our country, its language, culture and laws. It is out of control.

Not really. Their are many blue eyed blond East European illegals I don't like that anymore than the Hispanics. My 2 best friends are legal Hispanics. I'm friends with their family also. I think that 9/11 and our borders being wide open has struck a chord with the American people.
