Just because it's slow doesn't mean it's a failure -- that and "failure" denotes a goal which it shouldn't as we can't really force genetic diversity on people. And "be with your own kind" is a mis-declaration: where you start is with your parents' kind, not necessarily your own.

Consider 3000 years ago -- you were expected to, effectively, in-breed with members of your own tribe. It was anomalous and noteworthy when outsiders married into, for example, Israel (Rahab, Ruth, whatever king Esther married). Even 100 years ago, most folks were expected to take over the family farm and marry the girl next door.

These days, the idealized archetype is to move out at 18 and go off to college where you're exposed to all kinds of new experiences and strange people. And that gives you the opportunity to figure out just who "your kind" really are, completely separate from where your parents raised you. (Me, I've found that I'd rather be an Australian. Any east-coast aussies want to swap citizenships with a west-coast american?)

Really, after just a couple of generations after leaving their original tribe/city/nation, the descendants of Italians and Irish and Dutch are just "white folks" in America -- same sort of deal with Asian nations, same sort of deal (if not more so) with African nations.

"Your own kind" is more than skin-deep and that's why, for example, the last wedding I went to had a Chinese groom and a bride from a hippy-redneck family.

That's ridiculous most people are mixed with other nationalities and races anyway. I actually think that more people are moving toward a better attitude about race mixing.

We will all be one race someday. your thinking goes against human nature to explore and dicover. We are naturally curious and so to stay solely with ones own race goes against that.

There is no reason to NOT date someone just because they are of a different nationality than you, unless you are racist. I actually think as time goes on there will be more and more mixing of the races. People like people that don't look like their brothers or sisters. My boyfriend is black and I'm white. Who cares?

Why does nature allow it? If race mixing is 'wrong', then why are we able to make babies? We can't make babies with animals because they're not human, and nature doesn't allow it. But the fact that we're all able to produce from each other just shows that it is supposed to be that way.

I think it's inevitable that all ethnic groups will one day merge. We've got a pretty good start at it right here in the United States. In my immediate family, counting parents, children, husband, grandkids, nieces and nephews and great granddaughter, here are the ethnic groups of which I am sure. SCOTCH IRISH DUTCH ENGLISH BLACKFOOT CHEROKEE ALGONQUIN FRENCH ITALIAN VIETNAMESE GERMAN POLISH MEXICAN AND BLACK. And you know what? We have some beautiful and very intelligent children in our families. And they're all members of the HUMAN RACE.

Yes each race is different but that does not mean people should stick to their own "kind". That's stupid. I'm African-American, but I am definitely interested in dating people outside my race. You close yourself off if you only limit yourself to just one race or ethnicity and block out many potenital relationships.

My husband is not the same race as I am, and yet, after (many) children-I honestly believe we are doing the same thing as all the other married couples-even if they aren't the same race as me!
By the way, my kind is of the HUMAN RACE, and I do believe species should stick to their own kind!

What? each race has its own thing? And how can creating genetic diversity fail? That is the sole strategy for a species surviving! To have the most of a species to survive, there can't be goups of extremely closely related Genomes, there has to be uniform biodiversity! If a diseas attacks one group, that whole group will die, but if it attacks a uniformly biodiverse group, a greater percentage will live and pass on the good trait.

See...I find this to be ludicrous as there is no such thing AS RACE.

To denote someone as a member of another "race", you are in turn denoting them as a member of another species. Humans are humans last time I checked.

For example : upon quick glance you'd say I was "white" but in reality I have African, Arab, Greek, Italian, and much more in my blood because my family's from the Mediterranean island of Sicily (which was conquered by the Moors (Arabs), Phoenicians (modern African Tunisians), the Greeks, the Romans, etc etc. The national history was a major military outpost during the ancient days.

So, considering "mixed" babies are so commonplace anymore..is it really an issue?

I guess it only is when you heart is ignorant huh?

Also, to continue the trend, my fiancee is Mexican...let's mix it up more I guess. It's okay though, our kids will be beautiful.

Eventually, everyone will be mixed...and people can finally move past this trivial junk. Thankfully, our government can finally stop pointing the finger and sliming the media w/ scare tactics over "race."
