Yes, I do. This country was founded with the premise that we would take in people who wanted to come here and do right. Nothing has changed but somehow everyone is now all up in arms over immigration because the current administration wants to take the public's attention from the war in Iraq.

Absolutely not. Legal immigrants followed the law, payed into our system and did not garner such sympathy or beg for amnesty. If illegal aliens learned English fluently, they can apply like all those hard working legal immigrants and come back through the normal established channels. Simple really.

Amnesty was given to illegal entrants who already have worked for a long time in America especially when the elections were near in the past..

Personally I think the first illegal aliens that tried to kill out the Native Americans hiding behind their religion should the first to go. After all the Mexicans are indigenous to North America and the white race just transplanted them selves here.

Nope!! NO EXCEPTIONS!! If they have been here long enough to have a decent job, speak fluent English and assimilate they should have already at least started the procedures to become legal. Otherwise, deportation is in their future. It's too late now. Buh-bye!

Renate - We're talking about "ILLEGAL immigrants" NOT "immigrants". People who break the law of immigration, do not have proper documents to enter this country are called "ILLEGAL immigrants" or "illegal aliens". Those who have proper documentation and follow the proper legal procedures are called "immigrants". There is a HUGE difference.

Yes they may be fluent English speakers, they may work really hard and arent heinous criminals, but they are still criminals by the mere fact that they are ILLEGALLY residing in a foreign country.

If they want amnesty or permanent residency/citizenship... they have to pay for that crime of illegally staying in that country (crossing the border or overstaying they are still illegals). If the package includes making them serve in the military for 8 years (for the really poor or low-wage earners), paying 20% additional taxes for the time it takes to be a citizen the legal way (for the middle-high income earners if any) or whatever other condition they deserve for their crimes then perhaps they can have citizenship. Otherwise, like I said earlier

You mean after they've served their time for being here illegally! Yes I do! If they are doing their best to be good citizens. On the other hand, those who are here with their hands out, expecting our government to take care of their every need, while they work under the table or use false social security #'s. And send every extra dime back to Mexico but don't think they have to pay taxes, get legal drivers licenses, or learn our language need to go back to where they started!
