No, they should be fined for hiring them in the first place. The people that do the hiring should go to jail and the company's should be fined enough that it is not worth it to hire ILLEGALS.

Yes, just like someone who would benefit from someone who robbed a bank. They are just as guilty and should arrested fined and jailed.
Worse many of these company are firing American workers to hire illegals to raise their profit. New Orlean contractors have fired black American and hired illegal immigrants.

This is a crime and we all need to stop it or it will be you or your parents jobs next.

Well, that's if someone knows and reports them for having (in their employment) illegal immigrants. They, themselves, are not going to fire illegals for taking the day off because they (the employers) save too much by hiring/keeping them. [They save a lot of money, alone, in funds that must be matched to the US government -- social security, medicare/medicaid, whatever.]

YES............ they should have the INS investigate that company and fine the owners heavily and i would say some jail time wouldn't hurt !!!!!! they are breaking our laws...

For an outside view it seems like this will just force a political crackdown; spiteful reporting of illegals and an increase in discrimination from employees who might see Hispanics as a 'risk' group.

Overall I don't see employers firing folks although, by exercising the human 'right' to protest they have, somewhat, made their presence a bit more obvious.

Yes I think they should be held accountable..I employ a few Hispanic people who are legal..Some of my employees decided to not come to work today without giving me notice or asking for the day off..I'm taking that as abandoning the job and they have all been released of their duties and their checks are waiting to be picked up..I will not tolerate reckless behavior..If they cared at all about their jobs they would have communicated with me in some way..

our government doesnt give a ****....it is the employers choice to lose money that day....if the government cared, they would be fining all the employers hiring illegals like they said they were going to.

YES. The companies that hire ILLEGAL immigrants should be fined HEAVILY. INS should be keeping tabs on which businesses are closing today and investigating into WHY these companies closed and imposing HUGE fines on those they can prove have hired ILLEGAL immigrants.

I highly doubt that any illegal immigrant will be out marching today. Talk about a sitting duck! No one is that bold, especially if they are breaking the law.

I think that the majority of people that walked out are Immigrants, and supporters of Immigrants, not illegal immigrants themselves.

I don't get why some officials don't go to these protests where they know the people are illegal immigrants and confront them. I don't know if they could send them back by force.

I know my employers won't fire them (well technically they are from a temp agency) because they are the only workers we can find to do the really difficult/physical work around here. That really says a lot about us Americans (lazy).
