Illegal immigrants should have no rights, no benefits, and be deported. Everyone keeps talking about racism when the true racists are the ones trying to give illegals privileges for which they are not entitled.
What about all those immigrants who took the legal path to America? THEY are being discriminated against. |

You don't have to learn the language to go to another country. If you go to Acapulco or Cancun, you will see that they speak English rather than make Americans learn Spanish. By the way, writing the way one speaks is not exactly knowing a language. |

I agree that to stay in this country everyone needs proper documentation. But this country was founded by immigrants therefore there really isn't a true official language. (The California Constitution was written in BOTH English and Spanish and both declared official languages). I think the three official American Languages should be ENGLISH, SPANISH and FRENCH (North AMERICA does have 3 major countries after all). |

ok, I had to learn (english) and I have no problem in the states if I want to order food or buying stuff. BUT when gringos come to my country (MExico) they dont give a f***. they wont speak spanish and they think we MUST speak english for them... HEllo? go to a different country learn the language or at least, learn the basics :) |

The real problem is that the illegal immigration problem is causing a depression of wages. I do not buy the argument that there are job Americans won't do. If a business can get away with paying someone under the table less than minimum wage, why would they pay the legal rate to a citizen? I can guarantee you that if amnesty is offered, the next argument is for better wages and better working conditions, because they would be legal now and have full access to government services without fear of deportation. If we just enforced current law on business, we would go a long way in fixing this issue. |

Because we allow it to be different. We offer Spanish menus, signage, and a number of other things that cater to the largest percentage of the illegals in this country today. The only thing you can do, is say, "No," when someone asks you if you speak Spanish. I am only second-generation American on my mother's side, and my family learned English, went through the naturalization process, and worked hard to make a life for themselves and their families in an America that was unfriendly to them (post WWII Italians). I have very little sympathy for those who don't. |

why move to a country with intent of staying there and not learn the language. That's not being american, that's trying to expand the borders of mexico.
I find your comparison to be naive at best. learning a language for travel is not the same as learning it because you plan on living in that country. If you were going to france for two weeks would you bother trying to become fluent in french? I don't think illegals are here just to visit. They're here trying to make a better life for themselves, which I also find hillarious because illegals make peanuts and yet they live in our economy with our relatively inflated prices, so really now it just forces illegals into poverty, which we know to be highly correllated to crime. I mean granted most people don't actually think this out, but are you really surprised that disillusioned illegals turn to crime and that the majority gets typcast with this?

Actually English has always been the official language. Our Legal immigrant ancestors were required to learn English to be granted citizenship. All the immigrants who built this country assimalated to the American culture. Up until about 15 to 20 years ago high schools offered free night classes to teach English. Our Immigrant ancestors were so damn proud to apply and become naturalized citizens they went to ALL lengths to not only make it happen legally, but also all length to assimulate to the culture. Some even going to the degree of deviating their last names cause they felt they were to ethnic. They made huge sacrafices to be a legal citizen here, invested themselves in it, and committed themselves to the dream and the country and created one of the greatest country's in the world. As I have said before 2 key words here "LEGAL" and "COMMITMENT".
Spanish on the other hand has never been made publicaly official. The government just quietly began to print it on all forms and make demands of factories to print it on their labels as they began to see more and more Spanish speaking people in the country who refuse to learn English. Again mainly ILLegal immigrants whom they (the government) were trying to ignore. By doing this, that made it alittle easier for us to ignore how many were here and how big the problem has gotten, cause we no longer needed to spend an hour trying to explain a form to them. They weren't standing out. Nor were they pressured to learn English at all once that happened.
Secure the boarders and build the wall. Deport all illegals. Allow a documentmented work visa. Fine Illegal employer slavers. Cut off all government and social services and medical care to Illegals. And print a how to apply legally booklet to pass out to everyone as they bus them back over the boarder with the tital in large bold print "LEGAL IMMIGRANTS ARE VERY WELCOME!"
And please no one bore us again with the myth the country shuts down without them, or Americans wont do their work, or we cant afford to send them back. And again for the 20th time now ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS DO NOT PAY TAXES. THEY HAVE NO SS# AND THEIR EMPLOYERS DO NOT CLAIM THEM OR PAY INTO UNEMPLOYMENT OR WORKERS COMP EITHER!
If we can make stupid coins to represent each state for millions, and billions to "save" country's who didnt want saved. Millions to pave rediculas bicycle paths across America. Then we can afford to deport Illegals.
I am not discrimminting against legal immigrants of any nationality. But if they want to get into to the argument and side with their Illegal relatives then they will draw resentment to themselves no doubt. As i told one in another post, spend your energy helping your relatives get legal rather than arguing, demanding, and throwing up race cards when we call foul. Their temper tantrums to ignore their Illegal relatives violating our laws isnt going to work. |

These ILLEGALS have no rights because they come over here and don't even think about learning our language and they want everything handed to them. I say deport them all!!! My great grandparents came over here from Italy and they didn't have anything to help them, it was hard enough for them to live through the depression not knowing the language, it was hard for them to get jobs, but they managed to see this great country get swarmed with people that come over here not knowing the language and not even trying to learn it. My great grandparents learned the language and got citizenship...so all these ILLEGALS need either to learn the language or get packing out of this country. Take may 1 off i don't care this country wont shutdown because they are lazy and don't want to learn the customs, fie them all if they don't show up for work. This country was founded by people that wanted a better life, they can have the rights when they become LEGALS!!! |
