Get your facts straight,I'll admit,Texas was a mistake on the Mexican Govt.letting in so many Americans,(much like the Mexicans are trying to do to us at the moment)California on the other hand,was bought and paid for,as was the Gila bend treaty for Arizona .The Spaniards all but left Mexico and they needed financing to keep their lands,along with populace.This is how they lost Texas,trying to keep it populated.California ranch owners,like Pico and Figueroa,Dominguez offered France,England to make them part of their territory because they knew Mexico could not support them and their needs.They were happy when the US offered to buy the land,and since Mexico couldnt pay the loans for the somewhat 50 years they had been left from Spain,they took the trade for the loans,and yes we US citizens are tired of this too! |

Texas got its independance from Mexico before it ever joined the Union. As for the other land we paid money and forgave debts and signed a treaty. And THEN we made it different from what is south of the border.
You don't get to be paid twice because we made it worth more, no. |
