This is a time for ALL legal Americans to stand together. All Legal Americans should express equal outrage that a group of foreigners wish to impose their will on us and demand that we allow them to selectively abide by our laws.

I am stunned! Why do you feel we (African Americans) should counter demonstrate. Look at this situation, Americans are "ALL IMMIGRANTS". The only original people from this land are American Indians. Caucasians meaning different ones such as english, french, etc) from other countries came here BEFORE AMERICA WAS EVEN AMERICA. Then they went to another country (Africa) and brought back slaves. (That's two sets of immigrants already). What happened to coming to this land to better yourself. The Caucasian people did it, coming from many countries to find new land. I must also say that not all white people came over with the intention of owning slaves to better themselves, but saw this as a way to start a new life somewhere else. We (african americans) may not have been brought over to America voluntarily, but we are here and have earned our right to stay. Are a people (and I'm not saying 100% of them) that are hard workers, doing it to help make it better for themselves and their families, any worse than your ancestors. I thank GOD for allowing me to see this situation differently. I was reading the book of Matthew when it says something to the effect when someone is hungry feed them, need clothes give them some. Not all illegal immigrants are hurting America. They are trying to better themselves just like your people did 400 years ago. Give the ones that are illegal and here a chance to become citizens. I do believe that we can not allow everybody from everywhere to try and some control must happen. I hope I explained this in a way that was not racist but explains it from the view of an African American. And I do not believe that all Whites are bad and should be held responsible for what their ancestors did or all blacks are lazy and want to depend on someone else for their welfare.

we imported Chinese labor to build railroads, and did not give crap about there conditons, yet they settled in and now have formed sucessfuly communities
we them allow the immigrants from latin american countries to flow accros our border for year in so we could get cheap labor once again and worry abou the costs later ( as NIMBYism took effect ), we did not care ( in fact we hoped ) they would concentrate in there own barrios ( that's ghettos to the rest of you ), and evetually create there own communities as they built our houses, picked out fruit and vegatables and did vary sort of services.. yet no one really complained until now

If the line of communication is understood fully by both the African Americans and the immigrant, then there should be no problem with that. How many criminals walk past you everyday looking for an easy target? Are you concerned about the fact that some people live in cardboard boxes? Have you been impervious of the fact that some people don't eat but twice a week? There's many, many factors in interaction with a person is a non-native to my area. Know what say? It was the white man that took away the land from the native Indian tribes, Comanche, Blackfoot, Cherokee the list goes on. You don't see many violent altercations with illegals when they're catching them 30 Miles from where I'm at. Many of these people mean well, how many Americans mean well? Your kinsman came across the sea most likely as an immigrant or a slave. We were all illegal once. One last thought. Out of let's say ten illegal Mexicans that don't get caught, how many do you think are scared to death that they could be picked up at any minute losing hundreds and thousands of dollars to get across the border. Do you think you can handle 20 men stacked like sardines under a tarp in the back of a pickup truck and a heat factor over 100 degrees? I'll barter with any man as long as he trades honestly and wisely.

This is true for LEGAL AMERICAN CITIZENS. I don't believe the U.S. Constitution grants rights to Foreign Nationals that happen to be here ILLEGALLY.

Shame on your ignorance. Contrary to your assumption, these people are desperate to earn the right to citizenship but it is not nearly as easy as you may think.

And if you think for a new york second that *you* wouldn't immigrate, legally or otherwise, if you lived in the hell that they do, you are dishonest. For your information, many of the poorest countries have been subject to U.S. predatory foreign policy.

And as your president has said - they are here doing jobs Americans would *not* do - or if they did they would demand wages sufficient to bankrupt many companies.

Finally, for your information, there is not ONE OF US who aren't immigrants. Given the choice these people would like to be here 100% legally; but given the desparate lives they lead, they don't always have that choice.

I don't think that "illegal" immigrants should have a "right" to do whatever it is that they want to do in this country. Yes, I understand why they would want to become citizens and that's why we as a country provide them with that opportunity - LEGALLY! Sure, it's not easy and it takes a long time to become a citizen, but they can enter this country LEGALLY! Once again, we are having trouble keep that term LEGALLY into the immigration debates. Illegals should not have the right to enjoy our freedoms.

I'm sick of the entitlement mentality. Be it from illegal aliens or anyone else. I'm sick of everyone lining up at Capitol Hill with their hand out, demanding money/benifits/whatever based solely on the fact that they are alive and breathing. So I would love to see a giant counter demonstration to the entire entitlement concept. We could get everyone in America who pays taxes together and all meet in Washington and say together, in one great parade, "We pay taxes, vote, and don't break the law. All we want in return is a little bit of respect." That would never happen. But it would be really cool if it did.

Why would they want to do that? No, it isn't fair, but the blacks can vote, and the illegal immigrants can't. Why wouldn't blacks just use the political process, just like everyone else should who thinks this is unfair?
