My humanities class is having a debate on this topic and my side is greatly outnumbered 21 to 4. I am in favor OF changing it and I want to hear what other people have to say.
Please answer carefully and give me your honest opinion.

No,it should not be changed. It has been our national anthem all this time and should remain. Why is everyone so eager for "change".
America the Beautiful is a lovely song,but only hits on the beauty of our country. The Star Spangled Banner makes us realize what our ancestors had to fight for so we can have the country we have today. |

Why change it ? Heck no. Rossane Barr sang it beautifuly. I think we need to stop changing America. Lets go back to the way things were. Simple, pure, one song, one language taught in our schools as the main language. Elective second. |

No. I love "America the Beautiful", but it doesn't give me goose bumps like "The Star Spangled Banner".

It's not surprising that the status quo, especially in a hyper patriotic country like the US, would prevail.
I'm indifferent, but if it were up to me I'd prefer America the beautiful, just because it isn't so much about war.
I'm not a pacifist, I just think national anthems should talk up the virtues of a country, not its military might. |
