This "Teacher" is teaching hatred! She is a bigot and a narrow minded FOOL!....I'm outraged! These are CHILDREN for Goddess sake!!! How the HELL can she think it would be o.k. to treat children this way??? It's akin to a concentration camp!!! She should have her teaching license revoked and have to apologize publicly to ALL these children and serve LOTS of community service !!!!!...P.S. This is just another reinforcement to me that my decision to home school is correct! |

Absolutely teacher was wrong. |

Yes the teacher was wrong. It was racism, pure and simple, and no-one should be punished for exercising their right to protest. |

Putting all racial slurs aside, that alone should get her sacked. But she has exposed the child to the added risk of sun cancer, she was probably dehydrated with sun stroke. You can not deny a child the right to go to the toilet as this can do kidney and bladder damage. I hope the child has received counselling because this is clearly abuse. And just don't get me started on the inappropriate behaviour due to race. This woman is clearly NOT fit to teach our future. |

The teachers actions were not called for. She should not be allowed back into the classroom. |

It's irresponsible on the part of parents to pull their kids out of school on a school day for a political protest. They shouldn't be involving these kids in politics at such an early age.
But I think punishing kids is wrong in this situation; it's their parents who are responsible. |

WELL IT'S VERY WRONG IN HER PART, AS A TEACHER THEY HAVE LIMITS ON WHAT TO DO TO KID'S ALSO HOW DID THE SCHOOL NOT NOTICE THE KID'S OUT SIDE? I WOULD REPORT IT TO THE UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT. SHE SHOULD NOT HAVE BE ABLE TO TEACH EVER. I'M A PARENT MYSELF AND I KNOW I WOULD BE VERY FURIOUS IF THIS HAPPENED TO ANYONE OF MY KID'S. THE PARENTS OF THE STUDENT'S SHOULD SEEK LEGAL ADVICE AND TAKE IT TO COURT WHAT SHE (TEACHER) DID IS UNACCEPTABLE. MAKE SURE THAT SHE NEVER TEACHES AGAIN. ALSO SORRY THAT YOUR DAUGHTER AND HER FRIEND HAD TO GO THROUGH DISCRIMINATION.
TO THE IGNORANT FULLISH DAISY YOU NEED TO GROW UP YOUR TALKING ABOUT HOW HISPANICS OH "MEXICANS" DON'T LIKE BLACKS LOOK AT THE CRAP YOU JUST SAID. WE ARE TALKING ABOUT CHILDREN. I GUESS YOUR JUST ONE OF THOSE IGNORANT ONES AND HOPE YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN BY IGNORANT. LOL |

Very wrong. The teacher applied a very severe punishment and could be considered torture. The parents need to go to the State Education Board to report this abusive teacher. |

If true, the teacher should be fired and this incident go into her personnel file. |

WOW....I finally agree with JD....Yep my answer is exactly JD's....oh and a little motherly hatred that would have led me to the school and knocked the ***** out |

I'm not sure if it's "racism" as much as stupid and irresponsible. |

I am a teacher in Texas and yes I think she was wrong. No child should be punished for what their parents had them do. These children were not of an age to make the decision to stay out of school that day by themselves. The district was right to get this person out of the classroom. |

Although I feel sorry for the children involved and the poor judgement this teacher used, it bothers me that she is being investigated, when illegal immigrants march through our towns and none were approched by law enforcement and no investagation was done. They are breaking the law. This sends a bad message to all children. Children also need to learn that you cannot break the rules whether it is at school or on the streets. |

she should be fired immediately. children should not be punished for their parents taking them to protests. |

Yes I Do
The Teacher Is Dealing With Children
It Doesnt Matter HOW She Feels About These Or Any Other Issues
Her Personal Political Views And Feelings Should Be Left OUTSIDE Of The Classroom In ANY Situation
She Did Not "Teach" Any Of Those Children A Lesson
The Only Thing She Accomplished Was To Let Her Own Feelings Stand In The Way Of Doing Her Job
She Should Be Fired IMMEDIATELY
She Should Not Be Permitted
To Teach Anyone, Anywhere At Anytime Any Longer
As She Clearly Demonstrated By Her Actions,
She Is Incapable Of Dealing With Children
And Unable To Control Her Emotions |

Dead wrong if that's what happened. If that account is true, she should be fired. |

Given all of these details I would say yes the teacher is wrong. That does not make the things happening in this country right. If people want to celebrate Mexican and Latin Independence days, perhaps they should live in those countries. |

In no way was it right for the teacher to force the children to remain outside. But is this racism?, it depends on how you look at the situation. There are teachers of the same race as their students who come up with 'cruel and unjust' punishment.
Calling racism in America is a very touchy issue, and should be dealt with from the point of view of all sides. Or you will without a doubt have a bias reasoning to the current issue.
I surely think and hope that there was more if not another reason to sitting the child outside. |

She should be voted Teacher of the Year. If she loses her job, she can come to Salisbury, N.C.. With friends on the school board, I can guarantee her a job here, and maybe even secure her a pay raise for her efforts and cover her relocation expenses. |

Way to go for her. They should all be put out of school. |

There is no excuse for a teacher to do that. A teacher is supposed to be neutral. END OF STORY. I am disgusted that a "servant" of the community as well as someone that most likely has family that immigrated to this country(Like every other person on American soil) would act in such an ignorant way. |

I think the teacher was wrong. I also think the parents were wrong to keep the child out of school.
However, there are appropriate ways to handle absenteeism, and this is definitely not one of them. "Revenge" by a teacher against a student should not be tolerated for any reason. Derogatory names against a pupil, and physical deprivation are completely out of line. |

How convinient two latin names both stayed home to work on a project that is bull yes the teacher is right dam wet backs. |

Boo Hoo. What a load of bull! As if that little Mexican girl got a sunburn!
Parents need to allow their children to learn that every action has an equal and opposite reaction. When you skip school to "work on projects" you will get burned, although not necessarily by the sun - tee hee. |
